I've not yet shot this handgun purchase, but have previously shot this model (S&W M&P in 45), which convinced me to buy it. Like all of my purchases from Bud's I am always confident that this product, the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield in 45 calibre will live up to Smith's reputation for quality, dependability, and reliability. The gun has a very nice profile, and the size makes it an excellent Summer carry weapon. I've also purchased five extra magazines for this gun, as I'm a firm believer in rotating magazines every thirty days. This gun's fit and finish is excellent, and fits comfortably in the hand. I'd heartily recommend this gun to anyone seeking a compact defensive handgun in the tried and tested 45 calibre. You will not be disappointed.

As a newcomer to the field of carry concealed but one not unfamiliar with firearms, the S&W .45 Shield quickly caught my attention. Rated highly by other reviewers, I was inclined to give it a try because of statements made by those reviewers regarding how enjoyable the gun was to shoot. After receiving my order from Bud's through a smooth transfer process guided by the order process, I quickly took it to the range to break it in. Not only was it enjoyable to fire at the range, I quickly burned up 100 rounds before realizing I had done so. Having never owned a .45 before, the recoil is surprisingly tame and the way the gun fits my hand almost feels like it was built specifically for me. This is the first S&W I have purchased and I am almost certain there is another one in my future. Bud's made the purchasing process, delivery, and transfer process amazingly quick and simple. They have certainly turned me into a future returning costumer.

Well made. 100% reliable for the 2 to 3 hundred rounds I have put through it. Recoil feels a little less than a 40 S&W but much more than a 9MM. A little big for EDC but OK with winter clothes. Grips are too rough to wear against your skin. Not sure I like the fiber optic sights and the porting makes it harder to clean. I also prefer a manual safety on a pistol I'm going to shove inside my belt, but these gripes are just personal preferences. Over all I like it quite well.

Switch from a shield .40 to this shield .45. Trigger feels a bit lighter and more crisp than my last shield for sure. Sights are nice and easily acquirable. I haven't shot them side by side but the .45 feels lighter on the recoil, but both are very manageable. I was having some doubts about switching to a .45 because of some shade people were throwing at me, but those all went away the moment I saw the barrel of this gun...huge! This thing is not f***ing around. The force and momentum of these rounds on a soft targets are significant and different from my 9's and .40's. I've carried all these rounds, but I'm confident in using this .45 as my primary daily carry. If you're on the edge about getting a M&P shield I would just go for it. I can diffidently trust my life on this gun; it's easy to shoot and goes bang every time you press the trigger..... May be hard for some small women to shoot.

Nice service by Buds. I was apprehensive about purchasing a .45acp with such a small frame and short barrel, but I took a chance. Happy I did. The .45 Shield is only SLIGHTLY larger and heavier than the 9mm Shield. Felt recoil is less than a .45 1911 with a 4" barrel. The porting certainly has something to do with this. It's a Performance Center gun and the trigger is better than a standard Shield - very little take up creep and shorter reset. Double taps are easy. Accuracy is all one could expect for a short barrel defensive gun. Fired 100 rounds split between Winchester white box and Remington 230gr ball ammo with no failures or surprises. Mag springs are really stiff but started to loosen up toward the end of the session. Looking forward to firing some JHP self defense rounds. This is a great pistol. Super happy.

Fair price and painless shipping. The pistol is a good fit for my every day carry. Dependable and well made. A solid weapon for years to come. The Performance Center version has those little extras that one might add and for a lower price than modifying a stock pistol.
