Miroku of Japan has done a nice job on replicating the Winchester 1873. I bought the basic sporter model with pistol grip and 24" octagon barrel. Fit-up of parts and wood is good and the wood is a straight grain oil finish. The tang is drilled and tapped for a tang sight; I put on a Marbles sight and it fit up perfectly to the rifle. I also added a buttstock leather wrap with an insert to increase the LOP. The rifle cycles 44-40 ammo easily and smoothly. It is a good 100 yard gun. Casting and loading your own 44-40's drops the shooting cost dramatically. I like the original old Winchesters but for collecting; this new production model just begs to be shot. Bud's had a good price and delivery was quick without a hitch.
