Winchester Model 1892 Short .45 LC Lever Action Rifle - Blue/Black, 20" Barrel, 10 Rounds, Wood, Black Walnut Stock

I bought this Winchester 1892 in 45 colt in 2019. Love the rifle. Wood is outstanding and it is extremely accurate. Buckhorn sights are difficult to use with old eyes, but at 100 years this rifle can hit the 10 ring on a target 9 out of 10 times using reman ammo. I would recommend this rifle from history to all. Couldn't be more pleased. Buds made the purchase quick and easy. Price was cheaper than I could find at any brick and mortar store in DFW.

Well finished. Real nice wood to metal fit. Sights are so-so, but more or less period correct for a '92. Bluing is perfect.
Tang safety.... I don't mind. The rebound hammer makes the action "bumpy" and harder to start the lever stroke than it needs to be. Recent redesign of hammer strut precludes modification to "deactivate" the rebound. Hammer has a cut out that makes it seem un-original, also leaves opening for dirt n stuff.
Serial number is fourteen characters.... Takes three lines of writing! The rest of the barrel writing is more extensive than even a Ruger!
My magazine loaded very stiff the first few times but loosened up nicely.
Trigger is 4lbs, had a little grit but smoothed out, almost zero creep.
This rifle would do well with three lighter springs: lever latch spring, mainspring, and ejector spring. They are needlessly heavy.
All in all, a nice rifle, can push 260g jacked bullets to 1700ish fps, and is more than adequate in terms of accuracy.
Even with critical comments, I really like mine.

It is a Winchester. No need to say more! It is a solid build with an action that is smooth as eggs. I love it.

The classic Winchester 1892 Short Rifle lever action in .45 LC manufactured by Miroku is both beautiful and a joy to shoot. Immediately evident is its compact size, light weight and quality. The stock and forearm are straight grain walnut with a matt finish. The receiver and round barrel are highly polished and flawlessly blued. The genius of John M. Browning is readily apparent in the silky smooth and inherent strength of his elegant lever action mechanism. The rifle cycled and fired handloads of various powers with no malfunctions or problems of any kind. Spent cases are ejected almost straight up and slightly to the right so mounting an optic that covered the ejection area would present a problem but personally I would not want to spoil the classic lines of the rifle with a scope. The rebounding hammer and top tang mounted safety functioned as they should and aesthetically were not objectionable. Bud's offered the rifle at an outstanding price and shipping was fast. Communication was excellent throughout the entire purchase process.

Nice wood, just a touch proud of the metal, but the all around fit and finish is great. Came in at just under 6.25 lbs. One cannot imagine how smooth the action is until you actually rack that lever. Sweat shooting with light loads, but that metal butt plate smacks pretty hard with stouter loads. Very elegant to look at.
