Winchester Model 1873 Sporter Octagon Color Case Hardened 44-40 Winchester - 24" Barrel, 13+1 Rounds, Black Walnut Stock

Excellent fit and finish. Aside from the common complaints of tang safety and made in Japan this is a great Winchester rifle and since I wanted Winchester on the barrel I was willing to over look those issues. I'm pleased with the gun.

Very nice rifle. Wood is beautiful. Lots of figure throughout. Blueing is nice and even. Color case hardening is nice and bright on lever, forearm cap, buttplate, and receiver side panels, although the receiver itself is a bit drab. Still, very nice looking. Sights were right on, although they're easy to adjust. Put 50 rounds of HSM cowboy action loads thru it. Very smooth feeling. The lever safety is a little stiff but it didn't affect the cycling or shooting at all. Even though the beauty and quality of this rifle would justify it being a safe queen, this one is going in the truck every chance I get. (p.s., I did a 2 for 2 guns trade with Bud's and they honored their quote upon inspecting my trade ins. Very happy with the deal.)

Ordered on Monday, and picked it up on Friday. The rifle is like a piece of art. Beautiful grade 3 walnut, excellent fit and finish... and a good price to boot! Thanks Buds for the fantastic service, I'll be back!!

Received this rifle recently and I must say she is a real beauty that I can’t stop looking at. Could not find a single flaw in the fit and finish. I own quite a few Winchester, Marlin, and Savage levers already and this one sets the bar where aesthetics are concerned. Have not had a chance to shoot yet, but action cycles smooth and as expected. Like most I would prefer if Winchester was still manufactured in America, but the Japanese aeren’t shaming the name Winchester by any extent.
