Perfect rifle under priced for the value

First time rifle shooter. First time ever going to a gun range. Bought this gun, used Hornady Precision Hunter Ammo sighted in at 50 yds, took my last two shots at 100 yds and both were within 1 inch of bullseye. Second time at range, used Hornady's whitetail ammo. Still have good groupings, but the precision hunter ammo seemed better for this gun. The gun is amazing.

The rifle arrived in a timely fashion, well packed and not a scratch on it. Thank you Buds. It is accurate to a degree that is impressive at this price point. The trigger is around 2.5lbs adjusted to be as light as possible. The weaver mount is included (however every screw in it was loose. Nothing a little locktite can't fix), high rings work well with a 50mm objective scope. The biggest reason for the four stars is that I had to work the action and bolt with jbbore paste for about an hour then an additional hour of cleaning to get it to the point that racking a round doesn't sound and feel like rubbing corduroy together. I don't think you will find a better rifle than this one staying under $800. - $1000. I own savage Axis's and I much prefer the Ruger American. (Again, comparing apples to apples in this price range.)

Review for the rifle: This is the fifth Ruger american series I own now. I have three of the .22 American rimfires, all of which are great bang around squirrel guns for my grandchildren. I have a .300 blackout ranch, also a great truck gun to knock down predators on the farm. This 6.5 is also of the same capability and build. The American Predator and Ranch are lighweight, ugly guns, but they fit my stature/frame. This one is lightweight and accurate to 100yds, 1" MOA for me, good enough. The action is reliable, but one pet peeve I have is the "zip" "zip" sound when opening and closing the bolt. This is due to some of the lathe work maybe on the receiver housing of the bolt? Slight rings can be seen in the receiver, but it does not stop a reliable, but stiff action. When you remember these are sub $350-$450 guns but are accurate and work fine, then you don't need to compare them to say a Tiika T3 action, which is so buttery smooth it makes me salivate. What you get for this money is a good gun to introduce yourself to a caliber to try, or a knockabout that can live in the truck or get dropped and scratched in the woods without freaking out about the finish. I recommend it for that reason, but that bolt action needs to be just a bit less machined and smooth, knock it one star down for that. Review for Buds: No issues and they are quick in turnaround. A positive experience.
