Felt very fortunate to find a classic like this on Buds Gun Shop. I searched the internet and local stores high and low. The large loop lever is what was hard to find. Wasn't sure about the stock when I purchased it but after use it is really not a hindrance to shooting - actually helps with gaining the correct position for your head when aiming. The fit and finish are smooth and look good. It's a Henry - really can't go wrong with their products. Plus they are made in the USA.

I really like this rifle, It has worked very well so far. All i could find were the 17 grain vmags when i first got the rifle, they shot about 3 inches low. So i had to adjust the back sight up about as far as it would go. I finally found some of the cci 20 grain jsp’s and the fmj’s. They shot about 3 inches high, so i adjusted the back sight back down to get it zeroed in. I’m going to stick with the 20 grain ammo. The rifle is very accurate. I like the open sights too. That was one of the main reasons for choosing this rifle. It shoots hard also. The 17 is a wicked little round. It would take down pretty much what ever your hunting for with proper bullet placement. With the 20 grain ammo it has way more penetration than I thought it would have. The lever action works as slick as any rifle I’ve ever shot. I like the high comb stock also. It makes it unique looking compared to most of the Henrys. It doesn’t affect looking thur the open sights for me anyway. All and all its a good little rifle. And the forearm ring on mine is metal maybe aluminum. But at least its not plastic. If the receiver was steel instead of aluminum I would like it alot better. Henry would probably sell more of them too. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one from Buds even tho it took a little longer to get there than it should have. Can’t beat there prices.

Great "walking gun" for tromping through the desert scaring up rabbits or even long shots on desert ground squirrels at 100~ yards with the factory sights.. I did take the stock off my H001 22LR. The stock that comes on this gun, the comb is far too high to take advantage of the decent "iron sights" fiber sights. Have a call into Henry to order a stock and see-thru rings and a 3-9 scope as well. If the stock had a lower comb would get five stars!

Buds was it usual easy process to acquire this fine varmint and plinker. The little Henry is a very well made rifle. It performed flawlessly at the range and is a hoot to shoot. For a brand new lever gun it is very smooth in operation. The fit and finish is first rate. With some minor sight adjustment I expect it to be a tack driver.

Fast shipping from Buds. Took the gun out at F.F.L. and I felt great. Got home and oiled it to shoot. It took about 20 rounds to get the firing pin to work consistently. About every third shell wouldn't extract. After forty none will extract. There are a lot of metal shavings in the action. I've never received a new gun that performed this poorly. Not impressed. Will be talking to Henry.
