One fine handgun. Sad that Remington is no longer producing this firearm. I really like mine. Hundreds of rounds down range.

This is the second Remington R 51 I bought from Bud's. I bought one without the Crimson Trace sight, and considered just spending $200 for the sight, but for just over $300, I got the sight, and an American made, all metal 9mm pistol that I love. The Crimson Trace sight is very easy to use, and I love shooting either pistol. The Gen 2 R51 has performed flawlessly for me - and what a bargain they are, now that Remington has discontinued them

The Remington R51 is everything I was hoping it would be. Small in size but performs great, accurate and easy to carry.

I'll just touch on the highlights, or in this case low lights. This is a 6 1, not a 7 1. When I put 7 rounds in the magazine, the 1st round would not feed into the chamber when you pulled the slide back. After spending time with Remington on the phone, it turned out my best option was to put 6 rounds in the magazine instead of 7. Nice solution from the manufacturer, huh? Next issue...the trigger feels like cheap plastic that moves from side to side. The cheapest trigger feel and pull that I have ever encountered. When I mentioned this during the phone call with Remington, I was told that this was a fine composite material. In my book, that is the same as cheap plastic. Very disappointed in the gun, and very disappointed in Remington's responses.

Let me start to say that this review is solely on the gun itself. My experience with Buds service was outstanding as always. Gun shipped on time and arrived great. The gun shot decent for what it is, but the whole problem comes with cleaning this gun. This is the worst firearm I have ever field stripped in my life. I can't imagine how the individual responsible for the design of this gun still has a job. I would never ever buy this gun again had I known how terrible it is to clean. Remington should be embarrassed about producing a weapon with a design like this. Anyone with weak hands would not be able to field strip this gun. Poor product.

I have mixed feelings on this second issue R51. I truly like the feel, weight and looks of the pistol. The laser is a great touch . With that, I am a lefty and the ambi mag release is a problem. If I grip a little to tight or loose when firing rapidly...the mag drops out. I also had feeding problems . I've returned the gun twice for repair. I have yet to receive the gun back but the Gunsmith the second time but he told me I am not the first with this problem (lefty). I am disappointed, really want this gun to be my CC. I will update when rec'd back and been to range.
