George, this pistol uses a standard 1911 Single Action Only firing system. It must be racked to fire and every shot is single action. It does not have a double action first pull nor 2nd strike capability.

You are correct on all counts Gregory. the mag will sit flush, most 1911 9mm have a 9rd capacity being single stack and I agree that 9rds instead of an even 10rd magazine is sort of ridiculous.

Hi Gregory, The 9mm 1911 full size with a flush fit magazine has always been 9+1. We take our "Barney" (named after Barney Fife the sheriff on Andy of Mayberry who was allowed 1 bullet) magazine and load 1 round into the chamber then drop it and put a fully loaded magazine in so you have 9+1. The 10 round magazines need to extend slightly below the grip and are 10+1 and do not conceal as well because they print under your shirt.

the mag only holds 9 rounds and will fit flush to load 10 in the gun you load 9 in mag insert mag cycle action on gun (loading chamber) then remove mag add another round to mag and reinsert mag

A friend told me he had seen the P19229L listed in your on-line store yesterday 18 Aug 2017. Several range members who knew I was waiting for notification to purchase the pistol also told me of the listing. I checked my e-mail yesterday and had no e-mail from Bud's notifying me.I checked today and once again it's not available. I have made many purchases from Bud's and feel slighted. What gives?

Depending on your place on the notification list it is possible units sold out before your notification could process.

This is my favorite CCW. It has a slim profile and does not print, but is large enough to be shot comfortably. I have also used this pistol at speed shooting competitions without any issues.

Excellent pistol. I had the previous version of the EMP, and this one fits my hand much better. The bobbed off grip makes a big difference. I've shot it with several different types of ammo and it shoots them all well.

Perfect as a carry 1911 style pistol. Very reliable have only fired 50 rds without a problem. Quality firearm. This is my 3rd Springfield 1911 purchase from Buds and won't be my last. Buds is my go to dealer always fast shipping, good prices.

Buds is the best online firearms dealer I have dealt with. Great little carry pistol and I find it hard to resist bobtailed 1911 style pistols. Have somewhere around 500 rounds through it now and no issues. Fit, finish, form and function come together for me in this weapon. This is my carry weapon of choice. There are higher capacity weapons, this one fills me with confidence that if I have to draw it I will hit what I am aiming at and won't need an extra 6 rounds.

I have held in hand many different compact and commander sized 1911's, and find the Springfield EMP4 Concealed Carry Contour model to be the most natural and pleasurable to grip. From the first moment I held one, I had to have it. It fits in my hand perfectly, and I really like the G10 grips. The bob-tail contour helps in grip comfort by eliminating the bite experienced from the grip tail. Fit, finish and machining are exceptional and free from any significant, noticeable flaws. The slide is appropriately tight and without rattle. Thumb safety functions perfectly. Trigger-pull weight subjectively feels a little on the heavier side, but pulls cleanly for the most part and has a crisp breaking point. So far at the range I have put 40 rounds of 124 Grain American Eagle FMJ and 50 rounds of 115 Grain Federal FMJ through it accurately and without any malfunctions. Point of aim matched point of impact. I will be testing various types of self-defense rounds during my next trip to the range. My only criticism so far is the spring capture tool included in the case appears to be a harder metal that can have propensity to scar the 4140 reverse spring/rod plug. I have adapted my method of take down to capture the spring after first removing the slide, and removing the capture tool before returning the slide to the frame. An alternative tool for spring capture made from softer metal, such as a simple clip, or inclusion of a thin nylon washer to protect the spring plug finish may also be worthwhile to try. Overall, the firearm is a beautiful. I am more than satisfied with it and could not be happier.

Ordered on Friday and called on Monday that it was ready to be picked up! Fantastic shipping and response time from Bud’s as always!! The bobtail grip is more comfortable than I thought it would be. It is my second EMP from Springfield. Will continue to do buisness with Bud’s in the future. Always the lowest price I can find and I received the gun in perfect condition!! 5 Star service as usual!

I love this pistol and I am absolutely more accurate with it than all other pistols I own or have shoot. Before I cleaned it the first time I had zero problems after 750 rounds. For self-defense, do not use bullets with a composite (like Hornaday anything) or the gun will jam. Hollow points are fine. The down side is reassembling it after cleaning. The instructions are poor and so are the reviews online skip this step. Trying to hold the male piece back on the safety while inserting the pin back in is difficult but not impossible. Overall this gun is awesome. A near perfect 9mm 1911!

This is an excellent 1911 pistol from Springfield Armory! The accuracy and reliability are superior which is even the more fascinating considering it's a relatively small hand gun. It's actually small enough to fit in my pocket but large enough to be a viable self defense firearm. It will be my primary concealed carry weapon for self defense. I also really like the contour cut or "Bobtail" feature on the handle with the G10 grips. It also has many other upgraded features. In addition, the service and price from Buds Gun shop was excellent. Bud's price was the lowest I could find for this firearm. I highly recommend both!!
