This is an excellent shooting revolver. The four inch barrel balances the gun so shooting is easy as is reaquiring the target. Single and double action are smooth.

Sent a Certified check, processing time was slow, shipping was fast. The brushed finish on the gun is ok. The quality is not the same as on my model 66. I am still satisfied with the purchase however.

This was my first time dealing with Bud's Gun Shop taking in my trade towards the purchase of a new firearm. The transaction couldn't have been any more quicker or smoother and the same day of receiving my trade I got my shipping/tracking info from Bud's. 3 day's later I received my new 686 at my FFL. I owned a 6" 686 back in the early 90's & regretted selling it all these years. This new 4" 686 is just like how I remember my old one except now it has the internal lock. The IL is not a deal breaker or do I even notice it as this is a working mans gun that I plan to take for camping trips, hunting, plinking out in the woods and bowling pin matches. This pistol is going to serve me well for many years to come! Thank you Bud's for your seamless transactions & fast shipping!

All it's meant to be, and more. Heavy, solid, not concealable, even for the 4 inch barrel that I have. Highly intimidating, just sitting in its holster on my hip. All of this and more are very expected from this class of powerful handgun.
Smooth trigger, even in the very long double action trigger pull. Single action, very light and all too easy to fire.
Sights are spot on. Accurate, a short distance tack driver, no matter what you fire from it.
Firing .38 Special and/or .38 Special +P, it's a mere pop gun (with eyes and ears on, of course). Virtually no felt recoil.
Firing .357 Magnum, sure, there's a blast and recoil. Expected.
It's a shiny brute of a gun. And that's exactly what I wanted from it.
Buy it.

Everyone needs one of these. This is one bad ass weapon. First thing I did was put a pair of Pachmayr Rosewood Grips on mine (the factory grips in my opinion fit a small to medium size hands for proper trigger pull). Trigger pull is heavy for double action and would require gunsmithing to reduce pounds out of the box. Single action is great. This is a fantastic investment handgun that will never go down in value much with proper care and is built for a lifetime of use. The firearm is beautiful and you need one, even if you don\'t shoot it much. For maximum performance out of your SW 686 you need a 4\" barrel or longer. Buds prices are the best, as always.

An excellent made gun and great service from Buds once again. The 686 is a tight very well made revolver with a great satin Stainless finish.

While I have not fired the weapon yet I'm please with the weight, feel and action. The factory grips felt small in my hand, so I did upgrade those to a more comfortable grip size. Just don't like the idea of wearing a pistol if the grip is too small (or too large for that matter).
Same flawless purchase and delivery experience I have come to appreciate with Bud's.

Was looking for a good price on the S&W 686 and Bud's had it. Received it new in the box with all the paperwork as described. Cleaned it and took it to the range. It shot flawlessly and to point of aim with factory and reloads. Great, solid handgun. I highly recommend it, you wont be disappointed.

Best price I could find and shipped within a couple of days. Used my preferred FFL Dealer too. I'll definitely be back!

This gun worked very well with the rounds I loaded it with; hollow point, flat nosed, wad cutters etc. Not a single misfire of the 200 rounds I shot in an afternoon at the range. The hammer\'s rear edge is sharp and will leave a blister on your thumb but probably can be filed down.
