Winchester Guns 534112289 1885 Hunter Falling Block 6.5 Creedmoor 28" 1 Walnut Grade I Stk Blued

Nothing can be more representative of the opening of the American West and
the early days of the Winchester Firearms brand than a single-shot rifle.
This Single shot, lever-action rifle has a gloss blued finish on the 24"
octagon barrel and the steel receiver, which is drilled and tapped. It
features an oil-finished stock made of Grade I walnut with a checkered
pistol grip and a Schnabel forearm. It also has a Pachmayr rubber butt pad,
gold bead front sight with semi-buckhorn rear sight and sling swivel studs.

Whats not to like about the Winchester 1885 ? Great finish and fit. its' as good as any gun that I own and I have multiple Freedom Arms, S & W and a few English fine doubles ! Incredible value for the price paid as far as overall quality goes. I can't find any tool marks on it or any missed checkering points. No, I have not shot it yet but I expect it to be a shooter if the externals reflect what I expect to be a tack driver.
For what its worth, I'm frustrated over waiting to get my hands on the new production of the as yet unavailable Winchester 1895 in 30-06 and .405 in the fixed barrel configuration. My 1895 (.405) in the take down configuration needs a partner(s).

This rifle is great! Very well made and good looking. 5/8" 3-shot groups at 100 yards using Winchester Deer xp 125gr.

This rifle is quite worth the money. With a Leupold 3.5-10 on it, I am seeing dime groups at 100 yds with the first load I tested. The wood and finish are excellent . It is a joy to shoot. Only negative for me is the trigger. Pulling 3.5 lb with slight creep. (I like a 2 lb or less trigger) I probably wouldn’t notice it in the field but on the bench it’s annoying. This should be easily resolved, but at $1300 probably shouldn’t have needed to. Did I mention I love this gun!

The Ruger is comparable to the Winchester and is a solid replica Lawrence. Winchester of course has more time and experience in the internal component development of this type of rifle. Either will serve you well but, it would be the Winchester for me personally.
