This is my first AR 15 and first time buying from buds. This is a fantastic AR 15 and shoots .223/5.56 ammo perfectly. I did a lot of research before buying one and the Smith and Wesson AR was in my price range. I'm glad I made a perfect choice in buying this one. It doesn't come with any sights and it has only one 30 round clip. As for doing business with buds, I had no problems with them. I will be doing business with them in the future!

I like the gun. It brings back memories of my time in the service. I wish that i had known that it came without iron sites

The rifle was a great deal with S&W rebates. The rifle itself is built with the same excellent qualities that we have come to expect from Smith and Wesson and is a great buy at any price to start a build and customize your own AR15 rifle. Buds is also excellent to deal with.

This has been a great gun, fun to shoot and very accurate. It came highly recommended from a friend and it did not disappoint. The only issue I've had is that BL-C2 powder fouls up the gas tube. Other than that it's been a great gun.

This rifle works like a dream. I've had the pleasure of shooting this for a few months now, and it hasn't jammed once and is highly accurate. It doesn't come with any sights, so I had to buy some stock iron sights. I've put a few hundred rounds through it and rifle has consistent shot placement every time. It has a good solid frame, easy disassemble and cleaning is simple. Perfect rifle for a beginner or if on a budget, which is most people in this economy!

    Hi Chad, you should have no problems as a lefty shooting this gun. My M&P 15-22 ejects the spent cartridges just about straight out.

    This is an optics ready model, with a low profile gas block, so you can switch out tha hand guard of you want to run a free float hand guard or whatever. The A2 style gas block found on some ARs or M4/M16 also doubles as the front site block.
    Most ( not all but most) optics ready ar's come without back up iron sites because these models are generally purchased by customers that want a full range of customization (my ARs are all optics ready and neither came with irons) you can add after market irons from magpul or Troy industries or any manufacturer or you can just run an optic with no back up irons.

  • Q: I'm thinking of buying this gun and replacing the standard handguard with a free float rail to start off. What LENGTH rail should/can I get for this gun? Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hugens, If you replace carbine length gas block with a low profile gas block that fore end hand guard goes over you could use a variety of lengths up to 12\". If you keep the factory gas block then 7\" handguard would fit.     To free float you would have to install free float handguard tube. Remove handguard. Separate lower and upper. Drive out gas tube roll pin. Remove gas tube. Remove muzzle device. Remove sight base/gas block slide it off barrel. Using AR wrench and breaker bar remove barrel nut along with delta ring assembly. Install new free float barrel nut. Tighten to 35lbs with torque wrench. Then install gas tube and roll pin in front sight base/gas block. Slide float tube and gas tube/gas block. Tighten tube. replace muzzle device. Drive in taper pins on gas block. Reassemble upper and lower.

    Dean, yes you can but, I would recommend metal flip ups due to heat at the gas block sight rail. They need not be expensive to be good quality.     David, no Sir. This rifle has a Railed Gas Block with Integral Picatinny-Style Rail and QD Sling Swivel Attachment Point (bottom of gas block) so it is not "Low Profile".
