First, I'd like to give a great big "Thank You" to Buds! Outstanding customer service and lightning fast service!! I had my Marlin 60 in Buds Layaway and made the last payment on the morning of 5/25/2016. I was having it shipped to my local hardware store to do the FFL transfer. On Thursday, 5/26, I received a call from the hardware store informing me I had a order from Buds waiting for me to pick up..... What? One day turn-around? You gotta be kidding me! Where else are you going to get service like that??

OK, back to the rifle. I have a few older Marlin Model 60's that are top notch, my oldest one being a 1976 model that still shoots like a champ. I wanted a new one but was a little apprehensive since Marlin changed hands and the plant was moved to Mayfield, Kentucky. Well, let me tell you.....put your fears aside if you have any! My new Model 60 is top notch. No cosmetic issues at all and I just got back from my first range trip with it. I always use CCI Standard Velocity to test for function and reliability when breaking in a new gun. I shot a total of 210 rounds and not one hiccup at all.....it functioned flawlessly and accuracy is right on par with my older Model 60's.

Now, how long till squirrel season? :)

The rifle came in perfect condition and like people said the stock sights stink but I got a scope with some dovetail rings so it's fine. The one real gripe I have is that the new Marlins come with hex takedown screws instead of the original screwdriver ones and it's a 9/64 supposedly which is an oddball size considering i have a few hex sets and none of them fit the rifle so now I have to wait to strip it down...

This was a replacement of my first Marlin Model 60 that I stupidly sold over 20 years ago. Too bad reviews cannot show the huge grin on my face as this is like reunited with a long lost friend. There are a few things that I do not like about this gun, but they are minor and most people buying this gun will most likely be aware of them before they purchase the gun anyway. First is when you have a jam, and you will, to clear anything quickly you need to loosen the spring loaded guide rod. If you have a number of rounds left in the tube this means that even with the safety on you pretty much expose your hand to the end of the barrel. The other way to clear a jam involves cycling the bolt but this does not always work well and often clears one jam and replaces it with another. This is true of all tube fed guns that I have seen. Another issue is that I am left handed and my right hand can lightly touch the action. That is NOT an issue with the gun, just something that lefties using this gun need to remember. I really cannot think of any more negatives other than the sites are minimal and Marlin does not give you a life time warrantee like many competitors.
The positives are that this is a REAL rifle. It feels real, it shoots real. That may sound like a dumb statement but many .22 rifles do not feel like a full sized rifle in size and weight. The Marlin Model 60 feels like a rifle that could be chambered in a much larger caliber. Of course once you pull the trigger it feels like a .22 meaning you can shoot it all day for a few dollars and not feel beat up. This rifle will feed pretty much any .22 LR ammo you have except Marlin recomends jacketed ammo use to the micro groves.
I took it to the range today and put over 100 rounds down range. The first rounds 50 rounds were CCI Stingers. Not an issue at all. I then switched to bulk ammo, Remington Golden Bullets. Out of the 50 or so I shot I have one failure to eject but that round felt really weak and one failure to fire but after examination of that round the firing pin strike was solid so both issues can be chalked up to the ammo.
If you want a solid .22 that you can pass down for generations the Marlin Model 60 is a fantastic gun!
