U.S.V. Model. The Indian Wars are over and the 1873 U.S. Cavalry Models are in a state of disrepair. They are returned to the factory or to Springfield arsenal to be refurbished. There, the barrels are changed from 7 1/2” to 5 1/2” and working parts replaced. They are inspected by Rinaldo A. Carr and returned to service. Many of these firearms see action in the Spanish American War of 1898. Most are issued to artillery batteries and are known as the Artillery Model. In 1898 the first U.S. Volunteer Cavalry is formed under the command of Theodore Roosevelt. This group of gallant young cowboys from all parts of the American West, are recruited in a San Antonio bar and trained at Camp Wood, Texas. They would carry more than 100 of these Artillery models bravely in the charge up San Juan Hill. These historic American cowboys will be known forever as the “Roughriders”.

This review is for Model CA513M00 Cimarron Arms, NOT the model beginjning with PP which indicates Pietta as the maker. I know there has been some confusion with these model designations. I ordered this revolver in December 2023, and have been extremely happy with the results. As you may guess, I am a history buff, and especially of the Spanish – American War era. The Rough Riders are of particular interest, and this USV revolver was a must for my collection. The revolver appears flawless; bright bluing, excellent color case-hardening, beautiful wooden (walnut) grip panels with appropriate inspector's markings and date stamps throughout. Everything appears to be period accurate with the exception of Cimarron's markings discreetly placed on the barrel, Fredricksburg, Texas, and A. Uberti – Italy. The balance is perfect, and all parts function perfectly (ie. cylinder rotation with or without ammo, hammer / trigger mechanism, loading gate, and unloading plunger. This revolver has a hidden safety feature. By moving the center pin all the way into contact with the hammer, preventing the hammer (pin) from contacting live ammunition. (Never fully trust any mechanical safety device on any firearm.) I give this historical replica a five-star rating. If you love the single action military / western revolvers, and history; this one will be a double winner for you! Visit the Menger Hotel when in San Antonio, and see where Theodore recruited his Rough Riders (in the bar).

As always - superb service from Bud's. The same applies to my FFL, River N Ridge in Lansing, IA. The firearm is also superb. This is my second gun from Cimarron, and the quality on their Pietta and Uberti reproductions is fantastic. I fired this revolver with both factory cowboy loads, and my own Black Powder reloads (35 grains of FFFG under a Missouri Bullet Company "Cowboy #1" RNFP). This revolver functioned lawlessly, and put them on target where I wanted them. There isn't more that I could ask for. It is the perfect companion to the Cimarron 1873 Winchester clone I have. The only dilemma I have, is what will be my next Bud's/Cimarron gun?!?!?

I wanted this revolver to go along with my cavalry version and it does not disappoint. The action is smooth and precise. For a colt clone it stands up as an affordable substitute that I can fire without concern.

This is a very nice single action revolver, very smooth action. No regrets or issues at all!!

I love the looks of the gun but it has a major flaw... When loaded the rounds will hang up on the frame of the gun causing them to drag and at times even to the poing of preventing you from being able to pull back on the hammer. I have seen online that other have had this issue as well.

Wow, very nice firearm. The deep bluing and beautiful case hardening really make this SSA stand out. I put fifty rounds through it with no mechanical problems. Point of impact was about 3 inches high and two inches to the left of point of aim at 7 yards, with a 2 inch spread. Purchased this on a 90 day layaway and received it in perfect condition at my FFL about 9 days after I paid it off..

The Cimmaron USV Artillery model is exactly what I was hoping for. Uberti/Cimmaron are a great combination. Highly recommended for those that have modern day shooting with historical accuracy in mind. Great transaction with Bud's; great communication and easy process. Will definitely shop at Bud's again. In addition, it was a reasonable price; best I was able to find anywhere.

This was exactly what I have been looking for at the best price I found anywhere. The gun was absolutely flawless. The finish was beautiful and matched my 1892 lever action finish. The entire transaction transpired as the website said it would, from the clearing of my electronic check at both my bank and with Buds and the delivery was very fast. I know others have given poor reviews of Buds.....but for me, I will use them again.

I originally ordered a copy of the Cav. model. I wanted a Uberti built gun, but what I got was a Pietta. Already owning a Pietta, I wasn't a fan of the color case hardening. I sent the Pietta back (and as usually Buds took care of me), but Buds didn't have the Uberti Cav. copy in stock. Since I had just watched the "Rough Riders", I decided to order the Uberti USV model. One word; "WOW". Fit and finish where excellent. The color case hardening on the frame was exactly what I was looking for. Marks and inspector stamps everywhere (which I assume are there to mimick the original USV Artillery guns). Even has the 3 serial number placements and a fourth on the cylinder. It came with the cylinder pin takedown screw that you can hand tighten installed. But in the box was the original style screw (I actually had ordered two just incase it wasn't included). I got this to the range today and shot it side by side with a 4 3/4" Nickel 2nd Gen Colt. First shot with this gun was dead center bullseye. I would say it shot on par with the Colt, but at 1/3 the price. Both guns shot about the same at 7 yards off hand. Something about the way a Colt feels in my hands makes it a winner, but I preferred the shootability of the Uberti. When it was cleaning time, for some reason, the Uberti cleaned-up quicker than the Colt. If you've got Colt $$, go for it. But if you want an awesome copy of the USV with much attention to detail & 1/3 the price, this is the gun for you. I'll definetly get the Uberti Cav copy when they come in stock.
