I have been wanting a Schofield in .45 LC for many years and was finally able to aquire one. Hickock45 got me hooked with his review(s) on it from years back. Watch his video attached to this page and you will see what I mean. Anyway, I have yet to shoot it, but I cannot wait for the moment when I do. As for fit and finish, it looks and feels great. The color case hardening in the small detail areas looks pretty good...not anything to get overly excited about, but it adds to the overall look well enough. The blueing looks very nice and well done too. It feels very "aimable" in the hand...comfortable. The breakdown is such a conversation "Oddity" that it is a joy to show others and give a bit of its history as to why it came about. It's nice to see the "Wow" in their eyes when people look at it. This is a well made firearm and you would be proud to own it.

I have been wanting to get a Schofield for myself for a very long time. Finally I had the opportunity to get one from Bud's. Wow! What can I say? Even in the middle of a world wide pandemic, Bud's was able to process my request, ship to my local FFL in a matter of 7 days. I was thrilled when my LGS called and advised it had arrived. The whole process of ordering a firearm from Bud's was very simple and streamlined. Now for the pistol. The fit and finish of this classic American pistol is simply amazing! Deep, rich blue finish, and solid walnut grips. In short there is nothing better than this Cimarron/Uberti pistol. I have complete confidence in Bud's to assist me in obtaining items that I wish to acquire in the future.

I found this gun to be exceedingly well made. Fit and finish are top of the line. It is very accurate and comfortable to shoot. Recoil is very manageable with cowboy loads, so much so, my 13 year old son can still out-shoot 75% of the men at my gun club. The cool factor is very high for this historic firearm and I am glad I purchased it, although I admit the price seems a bit excessive. I held off purchasing this firearm because of the price, but I found the absolute best price at Bud's Gun Shop. I am glad I finally pulled the trigger on the purchase.

I chose the cash option when I ordered this revolver, and so the wait was longer. However, when Buds notified me that they had shipped my revolver, shipment took only 2 days to get to my FFL. On arrival , the revolver had a coat of oil all over much like new guns when they arrive. I was awed by the quality of the workmanship on this revolver. Bluing was excellent. The cartouche on the grips looked a bit more squeezed on than stamped, but still ok in my view. The revolver was smooth to open, trigger pressure to release the hammer was also smooth with no creep, and the extractor ejector was flawless. The front and rear sights were highly visible to my eyes. The cylinder turned smoothly and cocking the revolver was smooth as well. , I have yet to take it to the range so I won't be able to describe its accuracy. I'll update this review, if possible, when our shooting range opens up. So far, I am pleased with my purchase and Buds excellent service.

I wanted this gun for a long time, it was worth the money for me. Beautiful gun and everyone wants to take me to the range when they find out I have one.

I bought one of these due to my interest in late 19th century arms, cavalry arms in particular. I can’t fault the fit and finish on this gun, as it is superb. I did find a couple tiny cosmetic flaws but nothing that would upset me. I have always been disappointed that these Uberti replicas use a cylinder 1/8 inch longer than the genuine article, given that the 45 S&W cartridge (loaded ammunition and brass) has become easily obtainable, but the Italian Schofields remain chambered for the 45 Colt. The gun shoots well; however, I found that one of the original reasons S&W refused to modify the #3 revolvers to accept 45 Colt does rear its ugly head, even with modern ammunition that sports wider rims than the original 19th century rounds. I had a number of rounds (factory Black Hills cowboy action loads) slip past the extractor star. This, of course, renders the gun inoperable. Getting the spent cases out was still fairly easily accomplished but the functional issue can’t be ignored. My impression of the gun’s firing qualities was that it was not as easy to operate as the Colt type revolver, especially one handed. But I can’t fault this gun for that because getting the feel of how the gun operated in the 19th century was what I wanted. This gun delivers that.

If your are into cowboy action shooting or you just love old revolver designs then the Cimarron Model 3 Schofield in 45 Colt is for you. The workmanship by Uberti is 'high cotton." You certainly get what you pay for. The top break action is amazingly fast to reload. It shots a little high inside of 25 yards but from what I understand this is common for old guns and their replicas. Most military sidearms were sighted for 25 yards/meters. The action is smooth and the lock-up for such an old design that was in many ways ahead of its time is very tight. Of coarse the cartridge this pistol was originally intended for was the 45 Schofield which is at best scarce but can still be fired from the gun as it is the same caliber bullet but just a shorter cartridge, but with low pressure 45 Colt ammunition plentiful this gun is easy to feed and great for re-loaders. Ironically it was the Colt Single Action Army that was more cumbersome to load and unload that pushed this gun out of military service because the Colt SAA's could shoot both the 45 Schofield and 45 Colt but not the other way around. If you love old style guns and history, this revolver should be right up your alley.

Colby, yes this is CA compliant. Permissible handguns that are NOT on the handgun roster: Single-action revolvers that have at least a 5 round capacity with a barrel length of at least 3 inches and an overall length of at least 7½ inches are permitted. This is single action only, 6rd capacity, 7" barrel, and OAL of over 7.5", so you are good to go. Have a great day!
