I've shot 1911s quite a bit, so I think this is a fair review. The gun itself is superb. The fit and finish are outstanding. The slide is tight and the trigger is crisp with very little play. Compared to my R1, the trigger on the Girsan is better. I took the pistol to the range intending to really push it right off so I was swapping magazines out quickly and placing rounds down range. My first realization was that the sights were dead on. With little effort on target re-acquisition, I was leaving gaping holes in the target where multiple rounds had penetrated over and over. I qualified marksman in the Air Force, but that was almost thirty years ago. Compared to my Remington, Smith, and Ruger wheel guns, this 1911 was starting to make me feel pretty freakin young again. Aging eyesight and bad shoulder be damned.
I had ordered a good Chip McCormick mag prior and thankfully so. Not even seventy rounds in, the factory ACT-MAG spread from the heat and wouldn't enter the gun. If there is even the slightest chance you may have to depend your life or others on this gun, I would whole heartedly trust the gun, but purchase some Chips and ditch those terrible ACTs.
I shoot in multiple hand positions, standard combat hold, single right, and single left so I can confidently use the gun properly when I need it. This gun performed flawlessly.
For the money - this is a superb firearm and worth every single penny. It is an amazing production of the 1911 line with the quality and performance you would expect for a gun costing three to four hundred more clams.
However, the factory magazine is junk. The grip screws and bushings are easy to strip. The screw slots aren't deep enough compared to the oversized screw head. Easy to mar up.
If you want the 1911 experience and a reliable gun you can use in the protection of life and property....by this gun. Girsan has done themselves proud. Cardini makes a nice lined leather paddle holster that won't mar up the chrome.
The Chip mag still holds eight rounds without the cheesy plastic piece protruding from the bottom of the grips.
Just for reference on the accuracy, I was shooting Blazer (3 boxes) and a box of Winchester. Winchester being my preferred round. Only fail to feed was when I was shooting lefty. Which is fine - that wrist isn't nearly as strong as my right, so there was some wrist break involved.
If you can get one - get one.
1911 - my first pistol purchase. 1911- my 2nd pistol purchase. 1911 - my truck gun. 1911 - my carry gun. 1911 - because having to shoot twice is just silly. Enough said.

I was wanting to buy a 1911 for a while and finally bought this one online. Mostly because it was cheaper than most and the reviews were good. Wow was I ever surprised when I opened the case it was in ,when I was at my ffl dealer to pick it up.. it was way more beautiful than the picture shows. I haven't shot it yet but it's a very beautiful gun and looks like a $1,000 dollar gun! I will probably but another one.

Just made it out to the range to try it out. Very nice, no problems, 230 grain Winchester target load, 100 rounds, no failures. Do yourself a favor, stop looking and buy this one.

The gun just arrived, I haven't had a chance to shoot it, but it's looks like everything that it was explained to be.

This was my first 1911 I've ever bought and I've had zero problems with this gun. It looks great shoots straight and is a great deal. Since I've bought another 1911 a more popular name brand and I think this one is better. It's a great inexpensive 1911-45 I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great gun at an affordable price. Thanks again buds

gun shoots great ......no issues what so ever .....have about 600 rounds through it .....sights are not good ....they are very small but i think that s the way they were on the original issue 1911 way back in the day .....slide to frame fit is not the best but loose is good for reliability .....all in all its a pretty god gun
