Brian - the finish is similar to what I would call a 'matte stainless' / or light/medium greyish in color. It is a coating of cerakote applied over the polymer frame of the Shield.

Brian, Smith and Wesson states this Frame Finish is Cerakote® Coating H152 Stainless which is an *Exclusive Color*. Looks light Grey to me.

Is the extended mag light gray like the handle or dark like the regular Shield?

The mag extension is the same color as the frame Gary. It's the floor plate that's dark.

I needed a concealed pistol and I came across this fine pistol more than two years ago. It has been reliable thus far. The cerakote gave a nice finish. The slide lock had to be broken in at first because of the cerakote, but I no longer have issues. Came with two metal magazines (one 8 round, one 7 round). I purchased it then for $349.00 and then received a $50.00 rebate some time after. Highly recommend for concealed. Also use on duty for special assignments.

Haven’t owned a 9mm in many years, have always preferred the .40 or .45 for their knockdown power. Saw the M&P 2.0 online and at a great price so I thought I would pick one up for its concealment features. I was not disappointed, the 2.0 fits great in my hand and I love the new trigger, it’s light, has a smooth pull, and a crisp break. Haven’t fired it yet but not concerned about that, it’s a S&W so I’m not concerned at all about its functionality. The 2.0 compact is easily concealed and lightweight enough that you almost forget your carrying. Excellent weapon, fabulous price!

I own a 45 Shield purchased from buds in 2017. The trigger and grip texture on that Shield is very good. The grip job and trigger on this 9mm Shield 2.0 are equally, if not more impressive. 1&3/4” groups from 12 yards offhand using Federal and Speer 124g were as good as I can do with a full sized M&P9 and I had some close to that with this subcompact. Also the cerakote is nice but I’d have preferred a darker shade. This looks like faux stainless steel.

Buds is great as usual... The pistol itself is solid and well made, fitting my hand perfectly. It has proven reliable after several hundred rounds of various ammo to include cycling shotshells without issue. The cerecoate frame is a light gray metallic and is indeed unique, but is quickly showing holster wear. Accuracy was acceptable but not inspiring: an apex 1 dot sear has since turned it into a little tack driver. The biggest difference between the original shield and the 2.0 is the grip texture. It was a little rough for me so I ran some light steel wool over the grip area which smoothed it out. Having owned an original shield for many years, the shield 2.0 is slightly better but not overwhelmingly so. Note that the original shield mags fit and function just fine. Despite a few shortcomings i am happy with my purchase. BG

I love this gun! Bought for CCW over the Glock43. I like the trigger, stippling on the grip, higher capacity, grey color of the polymer and of course the price difference! The Shield 9mm with gray Cerakote frame is a great EDC pistol. I traded in my Glock 26 for the Shield. For me the Shield is much more ergonomic. I immediately was more accurate with it than I was with my Glock 26.

a good accurate little pistol, only thing i didn't like was the fact that i thought it had a slide release , it doesn't. you really have to push down hard for slide to release, its mainly a slide stop. you have to slingshot to chamber round with a fresh mag.
