Buds was great from start to finish as usual, been using them for a number of years and no complaints. Redhawk 44 mag 4.2 inch has a marred crane that holds the cylinder on, so sending back to Ruger for warranty repair, minor issue but at almost a thousand bucks want it perfect. . The Action is really really really improved over the older Rugers, really on par with S&W s now. Micarta Handle is way too small, but that was obvious from photos, so already had a hogue rubber grip waiting when gun arrived at ffl. Overall fit and finish were very good minus the crane, which is a easy fix.

No complaints at all; happy to have the firearm and I was pleased with Bud’s service.

This was my 50th birthday present from my wife. I chose this model because of the full underlug and the rounded grip. It arrived quickly after ordering. I ordered a Hogue rubber grip (#86020) for a round butt Redhawk. Fits my hand nicely (average size hands). Shot standard full power rounds (240 grs at 1200 fps). It is a stout cannon, but very comfortable to shoot due to weight and grip. Heavier-than-I-care-for single action pull, but VERY smooth double action pull. Someone compared it to a Colt Python action (that review convinced me to buy it) and I agree. Mine came with hi-vis fiber optic sight, so no problem there. Found a holster at Simply Rugged and it fits well. This revolver will be my hip gun whenever I am in bear country. Glad my wife is wise. I recommend this model.

Well let me say a few things about this cannon. It is a cannon for sure, 44 Magnum is no joke. I don’t think you need much more bullet than that in a hand gun unless you are just feeding your ego. The gun came to me five days after I ordered it, two of which were the weekend. As soon as it reached my FFL I was off to collect it. It was a very nice change that Ruger made this Redhawk with a full barrel lug, turning it into a GP 404, lol. Finish was nice but it was sent with the red ramp front sight instead of the Hi vis. One call to Ruger and that was changed. They sent the Hi vis and I got to keep the ramp. I’ll move on know to somethings that were not so smooth. The ejector ring hung in the bed of the cylinder and I had to use my diamond stone to correct that issue. I went out to shoot a few rounds and man did it put the bite to me, first to fifth round. The recoil was sending the frame into my thumb so hard that I placed a pacmyer grip on it. This will be the second week I’ve had the gun and a planned trip to the range this weekend to see if things calmed down with the recoil. So the gun gets about a 3.5 stars as things have gone, but Buds gets a 5.0 star. This is my second gun from them and they both have been as advertised. Not to mention the mags and other ammo I’ve ordered from them. Buds will be getting more of my attention in the next few years, or until I run out of needed weapons. Give buds a chance you won’t be disappointed.

Ok, so this review comes from a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm and very little experience so far. The smoothest trigger pull I have ever felt in my life on a revolver was on a Colt Python. The second best ever was on a Ruger Redhawk in a shop. Not because it was super light or anything. It was just smooth until the release, predictable. I am pretty finicky and HATE partial lugs on revolvers. When I saw this release, I acknowledged to myself, a gear nerd, that I did not need this revolver. But, since it was possibly only ever going to be available through this Lipseys run, I decided to jump in. I had just purchased the GP100 .44 Special and figured I had to commit to reloading already so I should commit to the .44 as a caliber. Also aTWO of my best memories of shooting growing was the first time I shot a Charter Arms .44 Special and the time I shot a single action .44 Magnum (maybe a Blackhawk). I figured I must have that “large bore revolver” bug I have read about so many times. This Redhawk as shipped has excellent fit and finish, a great handle and a smooth trigger. It might be a harder trigger pull by weight but is smooth and I dont’t see it keeping me from getting the work I bought this gun for DONE! For me this gun is a heavy trail gun, night stand gun or maybe a truck gun (if I wasn’t so neurotic about leaving such precious items in my truck!). The round bottom, micarta grip is very comfortable and for a revolver purist or whatever, I don’t think it will disappoint! For me, with that handle the cylinder did seem a little big so visually there might be a balance issue. But it feels like it has great balance. i only shot a couple rounds of 240 grain rounds at 1400 fps or something and found the grip to be quite comfortable. Before this gun even arrived though I purchased the round bottom Hogue grips for it. I still haven’t shot this revolver with them but that provided a huge change in feel. I have to say I prefer the the Redhawk with the Hogues. The gun feels bigger, it has a better visual and weight balance and feels more field ready to me with the Hogues grips on it. It feels like a beast, points well and can get the work I want done fron a revolver like this. ANY DAY. AWESOME! Thanks Ruger and Lipseys!

I just took Delivery of this yesterday , 6-15-2018.. Revolver is very Nice . Bud's as always is top notch . My only complaint is Ruger shipped my particular example of this Revolver with the Standard Ramp Front Sight. I just sent an email to Ruger . Letting them know I wanted the Fiber Optic as advertised . Otherwise . Would have been 5 Stars.

I've owned quite a few Ruger and S&W revolvers over the years and this is really the nicest .44 Magnum DA wheelgun of the bunch. It's pretty heavy with a fairly small grip but the Micarta grips have a good texture for a solid grip. The weight also soaks up a lot of recoil. Fired it with a variety of ammo, various weights and bullet styles, and found it to be accurate and as always with Ruger, solid as a rock. Plan on keeping this as a second handgun in the car for long trips and as a sidearm for hunting feral hogs. Like all Rugers, a load of dry firing leans out the trigger.

Just freaking RAD!!! This Redhawk is one of my new favorites!! The craftsmanship, quality, fit and finish are unreal just like all other Ruger wheelguns! This thing is seriously built like an ox and Im sure will be happy to digest a large amount of buffalo bore deer grenades and +P+ munitions.... The fiber optic front sight is super awesome and the grips feel wonderful and looks superb when matched with the stainless steel finish. Best thing is, no pesky key operated locking mechanism and no disgusting warning labels engraved in the side of the barrel. This thing is a perfect candidate for mirror like polishing And will soon be sent out for just that! I will say that the only negative is the whopping amount of power it takes to activate the double action and even the single action trigger pull is super meaty LOL so hopefully down the road with some ammo and a possible trigger job and polishing this thing will be an heirloom similar to a 4” Anaconda IMO

Awesome revolver. High degree of workmanship. I’ve wanted one of these for a long time and Bud’s had just what I needed at a very good price. The micarta grips and full lug barrel make it very distinctive and reasonably comfortable to shoot. It’s a heavy piece but well balanced and quick pointing. I’m very happy with mine and the experience with Bud’s was great.

No it will not the super redhawk Alaskan uses a Peg style grip "Hogue® Tamer™ Monogrip® with an internal recoil cushion positioned under the web of the hand helps reduce the impact of powerful loads, while the peg-style grip frame easily accommodates custom grips." as you can see the standard redhawk has a screw that goes through the grips from the side and the Alaskan does not have this screw
