This was the first AR i bought, I liked the looks and the price was a good deal at the time. I added a red dot to is and it's been a good gun.

I’ve made numerous upgrades to this firearm. It was great out of the box but I needed to tune it to my specific needs. Not disappointed at all. This was my first AR. The handguard is a pain to take off. Only down side.

Bought four years ago. Very solid through about 3,000 rounds. A+

Great first impression. It functioned just fine except the mags I used on prior AR-15 do not fully lock in place without extra effort. I think that is a problem of the mags and rifle have just a little difference in high/low tolerances. When I removed the upper receiver the mags lock in very easily even after downloading mags. Overall the rifle is a step improvement over the one I had before so I am a happy camper.

This is a great AR platform. Sturdy, solid, and well built. Very happy with my purchase, and as always very happy with Buds and their service.

In short: this is the best budget AR-15 you've never considered. I've long loved Mossberg for their shotguns, but mostly never heard anything about their rifles. However, the features of this AR-15 for the price were so appealing that I decided to take a chance and trust that their quality their shotguns are known for would translate here. Out of box the gun was cosmetically nearly perfect aside from a very small scratch of some sort on the very front of the handguard. Functionally, it hand cycled rounds flawlessly and when I took it to the range it ate all 200 rounds of the Wolf Gold I brought with me with 0 malfunctions of any kind. At this point I am confident this will be a nearly 100% reliable gun. Unfortunately Mossberg is a bit stingy on sharing a couple of important details of what you're actually getting here, so here are some additional details about the gun you may want to know. - The barrel is described as "carbon steel" which is pretty useless on its own. I am pretty sure it is 4140 steel because if it was 4150 they definitely would be advertising that. Nonetheless 4140 will work fine unless you plan to do a ton of mag dumps. - The gas tube length is carbine length (I measured both port distance and the tube's overall length to verify). For a 16 inch barrel it would have been nice to see a mid-length, especially since it has a freefloat hand guard out of box. However, the softer shooting and less wear on parts you hear about getting from a mid length on a 16 inch barrel are a bit overstated and frankly some people even prefer a carbine length because it can work better with underpowered practice ammo. It really is a "flip a coin" choice. The other features you can find listed and for the price are great to see, especially the Magpul Mlok freefloat handguard. Most ARs in this price point use A2 style fore-ends which leaves the conversion process to you if you wish to do so. Considering that would cost at least a few hundred dollars to do well and this rifle is only about a hundred dollars more than, for instance, the M&P Sport II and Ruger AR556, you'll save a bit by just having it done from the factory. The lack of a forward assist may bother some people, but considering that Eugene Stoner never wanted the gun to have one anyway and it usually makes malfunctions worse, I'm glad it is not here. The dust cover is also not needed to me as well, as the AR-15 is by design great at keeping debris out of it. My one initial gripe was the trigger. It's milspec so it's going to pull like a grindhouse horror film: creepy and gritty. However, I did notice after my first range trip that it smoothed out a bit, so it went from being "pretty bad" to "acceptably bad." For the price point however, I don't expect a great drop in style trigger. I've even noticed rifles with much higher price points than this with worse triggers. Overall, I highly recommend this rifle. You get a lot of bang for your buck and leaves very little you'll probably want to upgrade. Thanks Mossberg and thank you Bud's for a pleasant buying experience.

for the price there are better options out there. I bought this and day one did not fire. It came with a notched hammer that would catch and stopped halfway giving me nasty failures to feed. Fixed the hammer issue and sold it. First and last rifle i buy from mossberg. They make a hell of a shotgun though

Gun seems on the level for my first gun on this platform. Magpul, mlok...top notch features made finding matching accessories really easy. Now I just need to get to the range! As for Bud's...they were great. Layaway and shipping were super easy. I'll be shopping with them again.
