Like all Ruger revolvers this is solidly built. Trigger not particularly light but smooth. A bit on the heavy side, which I expected. Was a bit surprised how snappy it was, particularly with the weight of the gun. But this did not make it uncontrollable -- just realize you are getting something with a bit more recoil than a 38 special.

An outstanding revolver with wonderful quality all around. Love the 9mm chambering to keep it compatible with my semi automatics. Bought from Bud’s when they offered an unbelievable price.

Very nice!! If you buy it, I would suggest getting moon clips.

I have been looking for a 9mm revolver for sometime. To get a SP101 in a 9mm caliber is even better. Thanks Buds, very smooth process, as always!

Cylinder binding after first shot. Think its the crimp on the bullit. Will try differant ammo to see if that corrects it

This is the 2nd new Ruger revolver I have bought from Buds this year (2023) and both have had big problems. The first was a Blackhawk (made in 2022, I got it from Buds early 2023) with a mis-clocked barrel (causing a canted front sight), missing rear sight, and some other issues. I sent it back to Ruger and they fixed it really quickly and well. A little annoying, but turned out well. Maybe this was a fluke? A few weeks ago I ordered this SP101 (made in 2023), and when I picked it up there were no moon clips in the case (there are supposed to be 3 included). Not a huge deal, I will talk to Ruger.. However, getting it home and inspecting it more closely there are 2 other pretty large issues: 1) Light rust in the bore and cylinder chambers, but especially one cylinder throat is actually encrusted with rust....... It sticks up above the surface of the steel. Maybe this is something else, but I don't know what. I will let Ruger look at it rather than try to clean it, because I'm worried the bore / chambers have been compromised by corrosion or pitting. (Where was this gun stored, a salt mine?!) 2) When you cock the hammer (for a single-action trigger pull), and then pull the trigger, the hammer drops to the double-action sear and stops. Then as you pull harder the hammer goes into a double-action trigger pull: first it goes back toward cocked, then releases. This stuff shouldn't happen-- the single-action trigger pull should be really smooth. This sear issue is not something I have any knowledge or capability to deal with, so Ruger will have to work on it. So it looks like this one is headed back to Ruger as well.... That makes me 0/2 with new Ruger revolvers from Buds in 2023..... On a positive note, the revolver looks nice, barrel seems to be clocked properly, and the double-action trigger pull is ok.

In my search for the perfect concealed carry firearm the SP101 is another possession that I am sorry I let go. I know there will be trolls that try to refute this but I have done the math which basically means I'm a big fan of the Buffalo bore website. Tim will tell you everything you need to know about ballistics. We all know the SP101 is built like a tank just like most of Ruger revolver products are. Yes they lack a little in style points compared to the Smith & Wesson or perhaps cold but that's a different chapter and a very long discussion. If you go through the Buffalo bore website and read the ballistics on various weapons from Tim you will come to find out that a 9mm 115 grain plus p plus out of this two and a quarter inch barrel outperforms what I call a standard pressure 357 Magnum out of the same barrel. Before you be a senseless troll please check this out before you respond. The only reason I let this revolver go back to my FFL dealer once I had this weird idea that I just didn't want to deal with moon clips anymore. Big mistake. In my ongoing search for the perfect concealed carry weapon I really wish I would have kept it.

Buds was great and delivered my new Ruger SP101 in a timely manner. And I can't say enough about how tough and reliable this 101 is. I purchased the 9x19 model that uses moon clips. Recoil is moderate and reloading is no problem. I highly recommend both Buds and Ruger.
