Component quality is ok but everything else about the gun is nice. It functions very well and is very light and handy, making it easy to swing. It also has almost zero recoil. Very handy gun, and I would buy again.

Outstanding company to do business with. I bought several guns from Bud's and have had prompt service on every purchase. They are very efficient at what they do. Thank you for the satisfaction guarantee. I have been satisfied with every purchase I have made with Bud's.

I purchased new models of a 20 ga. Tristar Youth Combo 24” bbl synthetic and Tristar 20 ga. 26” bbl synthetic in September 2009. The guns are manufactured in Turkey by the same company that makes the Mossberg SA-20 and the Weatherby SA-8. I have compared the Tristars to three similar Turkish made 20 ga. semi-autos, and have found on balance that the Tristars were the best overall value. Mechanical function is simple and straightforward. Both guns have operated better than their Turkish competition. The new model has excellent styling, fit and finish for a gun in this price range, and for a semi-auto they are relatively easy to clean, and have a stainless magazine tube. The 26" bbl gun needed some adjustment and Tristar’s warranty service in Kansas City is the best I have ever encountered with 10-day turn around and even a new barrel when I mentioned a small stain on the rib! Try to get that type of service from Browning or Remington. Bud’s prices are the best I have found on these Tristars and Bud’s service is likewise great.

Be warned on the 20 gauge version of this gun! The fit of the components leaves a lot to be desired. I had been eyeballing this gunfor some time. A tight-wad hunting buddy of mine picked up the 12 gauge of this gun. His gun was dropping ducks without any problems. That settled it for me. I ordered the 20 ga for quail & dove and such. It appears as though tri-star uses the same stock on the 20 as they do on the 12. The stock is about 1/4" bigger than the receiver. We also discovered that shells must be pushed fully into the magazine tube. When you load the gun, you may think you got the shell all the way in but, it still needs and extra little push to get it fully in. If this is not done, the gun will fail to cycle. It was rather annoying, but after a while you get used to just pushing a little further than feels natural. On the plus side, after the loading/ cycling issue was resolved and I put the terrible stock to receiver fit out of my mind, this gun shoots quite well. It shoulders nicely (obviously, your results may vary on that one). Being a 20 ga, it doesn't hit hard at all. It is very light. ...and it is a clay busting machine. I ordered mine before the price jumped over $40 after the election. For what I paid for it, I am satisfied, but I will be trying to contact Tri-Star about the stock situation. At the price it is now, I might start looking at the Mossberg 920 for the extra $50-60.
