Are the winchester 308 and 7.62 equally accurate in this weapon? I believe the ammunition is interchangeable but not sure they are equally accurate

Mark, due to specific 308 head spacing in this .308 chamber, .308 has the potential for greater accuracy due to the bullet being seated in the chamber cone much tighter.

Mark, You will find .308 match rounds generally to be more accurate in this gun then 7.62 rounds. Good luck finding some .308 ammo at this time.

Accurate right out of the box. I was on paper at 50 yards on day one. I took it to a range with benches later and dialed in more precisely. I know these vary to some degree but mine was MOA or better right out of the box. I got a boyds wood stock for it and a better scope and the things a effing tack driver. My buddy has a much more expensive rifle and we both prefer my savage to his *brand redacted*. Its light, its accurate, adjustible trigger is wonderful, the scope it comes with isnt bad but this gun deserves better. The original plastic stock bothered me from day one. Its well mad but i just couldnt handle how toy-like it felt. On a bolt gun i NEED a wooden stock. But that's just me. All in all... id definately rate this gun 5 out of 5. Even if you want to swap the stock like me... the guns value is amazing for the price.

I had approximately 1-2 MOA with 7.62 NATO. Rifle NOT sighted from factory. Like off a foot and a half at 25 or 50 yards (can't remember, back in October 22). It was quick and easy to walk in and then center for 100 yards. Great rifle. Maybe 308 could achieve even better results, given the chambering and headspacing. Haven't seen much of that though, and don't have any on hand. I was using Ammo Inc brand btw. Action might have been slightly smoother with 308 too, just a guess. Trigger is superb and adjustable. For 1-2 inch groups at 100 yards, and the price, how can anyone complain. Savage impulse... Straight pull bolt is impressive. I would consider one of those for sure.
