Weaver scopes are a cheaper brand. The one on your rifle is closer to the bottom of the quality chain. Not good in low light conditions & not nearly as well constructed as other scopes. I have always been from the school of thought that in a scope you get what you pay for (in this case I understand it came with the gun but Weavers typically are inexpensive). I would replace it or look for the gun without a scope. My humble opinion is that Leupold is the best scope for the money with many options. Their lenses are multi coated and very clear at low light. An added bonus is the very generous eye relief. Also have lifetime warranty. You can get a relatively inexpensive Rifleman model that is way better than Weaver. By the way, Redfield is now made by Leopold. I have advised many friends to buy a Redfield (inexpensive) and you basically get a cheaper priced "Leupold." And they are excellent scopes. Lastly, people will argue for weeks on the proper magnification for long range hunting. 3x9 will work but things get pretty small out at 250+ yards. Without writing a book here – I always recommend at least 4x12 for 250+ yds. It is not too powerful either for close range hunting. Best of luck!!!
