Rossi USA 454 Casull Lever Action w/20" Round Blue Barrel/Walnut - 20" Barrel, Wood Stock

I purchased this in 2014 for $578.68 from Bud's. I was not aware at the time we could review guns we had purchased so I am going back through and doing reviews on all the guns I have purchased through Bud's over the last nine years. As far as Bud's goes this transaction like all my others with them was flawless. The gun itself is an absolute hoot to shoot, but it came with a goofy safety and a set of really cheap buckhorn sites. I had a gun smith remove the safety and drill the receiver for a steel peep sight made for model 92s, not a tang mounted aftermarket peep. With those modifications this is probably one of the most fun guns I own to cast, reload, and shoot. So far it has held up to nine years of having the dickens shot out of it with full house loads. I see that Rossi is now making these again but in stainless, but they want a lot more for them than they did in 2014. I still enjoy this gun enough that having another in stainless might be something I save up for because this has been such a good gun for me.

I've been shooting the rifle for a little over a year. I'll share some of my observations. Out of the box, the action is tight. You will need to work that lever with a bit iof attitude. After you get through a hundred rounds it will cycle appreciably better. Keep it clean and lube those moving parts. The longer .454 rounds will cycle noticeably better than the .45 Colt rounds. The gun is far more accurate than my eyes. The gun is quite comfortable to shoot. Recoil is modest. Nice trigger. Loading gate edge could be a bit smoother. Bud's delivered quickly and without issue.

A fine fire arm. Action is butter smooth. Wood is classic and understated of excellent quality. Bluing is primo. I was concerned about some of the negative reviews I had read. This is a superb value.

Absolutely a stellar and must have weapon. It may look like a typical 92, but this ain't your typical 92. Exceptionally well made, basic yes, but well made, fast handling, very tight but smooth action, lightweight, comfortable to shoot, and it launches a devastating round with no more than a moderate recoil. I ran 250 gn. XTP's through this gun and they delivered. Accuracy for an open sight lever action was spot on at 100 yds. Braztech/Taurus is putting out some very well made weapons for a price that is very attractive. Bud's does it again with their great layaway! They have made it affordable to buy quality weapons without having to break the bank up front. Thanks Buds! .
