Back in the 'day', I lived in Lexington, Ky. A trip to Bud's was a weekly event.

First, the Rossi rifle = 5+ out of 5
Bud's price/service = 5+ out of 5
Rossi's product description on their website = strange

I also have an R92 (16" bbl) in SS and it's a 44 Mag. I enjoy it so much, I bought this 454.
I was told by several dealers this rifle was discontinued. Including the Rossi rep at the Elet Bros. show. Anyway, the description of the rifle and photos are very confusing. Rossi states all R92 rifles have a steel buttplate. Mine had a recoil pad. The "22lr" style loading tube is listed as 'optional'. Mine has it and I love it!

Bottom line is the fit and finish is excellent. great trigger right out of the box, and the sights were dead on at 35 yards (shooting full house 454 ammo). The recoil paid is welcome as this thing has a bark! We have some Salute (brand) hd steel rifle targets with stands. The 454 nearly knocks the entire target and stand over.

Purchased this product with high expectations though perhaps too high. While the fit and finish of this rifle is good and it cycles the .454 it was rated for, this particular rossi proved temperamental when attempting to cycle .45lc, jamming the shorter cartridge it should cycle without issue into into the upper chamber wall. The action also requires a stiff yank of the lever to in induce the feed ramp into the proper position. Anything less would leave the round in the tube or in a half raised position, unlike the precision mechanics of my Marlin. Theoretically these problems could be solved by a competent gunsmith, though I shouldn't have to take a NIB firearm to said gunsmith in the first place. Sadly I could only find these issues out after accepting possession of the firearm from my FFL.

Fortunately I was able to find this rifle a good home, but am unlikely to buy a rossi product in the future. It rates three stars for the finish of the product and its ability to cycle the rated ammunition, nothing more.
