This revolver is absolutely gorgeous. The trigger pull is smooth as butter and the recoil is manageable. Well made revolver!

My hat goes off to Bud's, I was expecting a drawn out schedule while going through the process of buying this revolver due to the pandemic, but everything went smoothly and pretty fast and before I knew it I had my new gun. Many thanks to Bud's.

I love this gun, it is a great SAA pistol. It looks great and shoots great and will be proud to pass it on to my son. Quality is top notch.

Before the review, let me inform everyone who is about to purchase this gun, as there isn't any clear direction or information in this listing about these features. Uberti is now manufacturing all their single action 1873 clones with a few historically inaccurate features. For starters, the firing pin in this gun doesn't rest on the primer of the bullet. I believe it's called a retractable firing pin, but I'm not sure. It is meant as a safety (the feature where the cylinder bar pushes back into the frame making the hammer rest above the primer is now gone). With this new feature it's safe to carry 6 rounds (according to Uberti) with this gun, as the firing pin doesn't engage with the primer until the trigger is pulled which makes the firing pin move in the hammer. I'm not sure what part of this new design has changed the number of "clicks", but this gun DOES NOT have the 4 clicks when pulling the hammer back like a traditional Colt does. No newly manufactured Uberti's do anymore. I'll start with the fit and finish. It's not the best, but it's still nice. It feels authentic is the best way to put it. The bluing is very nice for the most part, the is a small part near the barrel (about half an inch) where the bluing isn't as glossy as the rest, it makes it look like there is a smudge on the bluing or something, but it's there permanently. Other than that, the bluing is very well done. The case hardening isn't the best but it's passable and it's real, although it's not done in the bone/charcoal method. The colors aren't as vibrant or distinct as what you see on a Colt most of the time, or especially on the new Standard Mfg. SAA's. The frame has a few very small nicks and dings in it, but they really are small and almost unnoticeable. The seam where the frame and the trigger assembly meet has a couple small nicks as well. The cylinder has a bit of movement in it, mostly moving to the front and rear, so the lock up and fit of the cylinder isn't the absolute very best but it's still not bad, especially in this price range. Also the cylinder has a removable bushing. As I said, it feels authentic... this is not a "safe queen", which is good to me. I wanted a gun I wasn't afraid to shoot all day long. Small flaws like this are what I imagine a gun in 1880 would have been like, brand new. Ok, that's pretty much it for the "negatives". I like to get those out of the way first, so on to the positives. The grips are extremely nice, they are fit very well with no overlaying edges or corners. The wood is a little lighter than what I would prefer but it's flawless as far as the fit and finish. The checkering is very well done, no nicks and dings or scratches or rough areas. This is the Taylor tuned model (which is a great deal here at buds, it's over $100 more expensive if ordered through Taylor's website) and the extra money for this deluxe version is worth it. The trigger pull is fantastic. It's crisp with no take up or sponge to it and mine breaks at 2lbs 6oz's. I also own a Cimmaron Uberti and the ejection rod hangs up. Not this one, it glides smoothly as butter. I believe the cylinder chambers are also polished better because the spent casings glide right out of the cylinder when unloading them, most of the time I didn't even use the ejection rod. The gun shoots so smooth and I shot all 30 rounds without any issue, then cleaned the gun and the cylinder rod came out without any fuss. The gun does shoot just a little high though, but that could be me getting used to the light trigger and sights. Overall, for the price this gun is fantastic. A very authentic feeling 1873 (with the exceptions of the clicks and safety devices). Unless you absolutely have to have a 100% historically accurate 1873 single action, this is a wonderful choice and I highly recommend it. I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars... I took one star off mainly because of the small play in the cylinder, a few little nicks in the steel of the frame and because the pistol is technically historically inaccurate. However, these flaws sounds worse on paper then they are in real life. If you're on the fence then go ahead and jump over it. You won't be disappointed.

Heads Up...This gun is not the same gun you see in the on-line videos. At least mine wasn't. I received a 3 click model, not a 4 click. As it turns out, it's a Uberti Cattleman ii that is slickened up by Taylor's. Look at a Cattleman ii first to see if this is the gun you want. There is no disclosure on this, so I feel cheated for sure. The gun looks and feels great though for what that's worth.

Ordered on Sunday morning, arrived at my FFL Tuesday afternoon. Lightening fast service from Bud's. Have not shot the firearm yet, but she sure is a beauty. Color case hardening has lots of color, light and dark's, and the blueing is beautiful. The action is slick and the trigger is light and crisp. No regrets here. I'm sure it will shoot as good as it looks.

When I decided to buy a Single Action .45, Colts were impossible to find, and when you do find them, the prices are ridiculous. However, after a lot of research, I settled on the Taylor's (Uberti), Smoke Wagon Cattleman Deluxe and I have been absolutely thrilled with my choice. These firearms are of extremely high quality and the craftsmanship is outstanding. Taylor's reworks these gems with new Wolf springs to make them even better. With a very light single-action trigger, they are an absolute joy to shoot. They are accurate, reliable and are a work of art. Lockup is tight and the cylinder timing is perfect. I love this cowboy pistol and you will also. I am shooting Buffalo Bore .45 long colt at 1000 fps, which I find is just right.

Very nice gun - Taylor has slicked up an already good Uberti six-shooter. Shoots beautifully with both commercial ammo and handloads. Recoil is very manageable; much like my 1911. You can't go wrong with this one! Bud's was great to work with, as usual. Can't wait for the next one (don't tell my wife).
