The Heritage is our entry-level 1911, allowing shooters to experience Dan Wesson quality at the most affordable price possible. Even though this model is our most economical, it features all the same quality components that we use in our 1911 models.

A Government-size model, it has a 5-inch barrel and is chambered in .45 ACP. The slide features our Clark-style rib and wears a tritium front sight and plain black, snag-free rear. The sides of the slide have a nice brushed polish on the flats while the rounds are sandblasted to match the matte forged frame with undercut trigger guard and smooth front strap. Grips are double diamond rubber.

The Heritage is a great introduction to the Dan Wesson 1911 experience and we are confident it will become an heirloom, handed down from generation to generation.

Absolutely amazing service. I have wanted a Dan Wesson 1911 for a long time. Well, I finally got one. I couldn’t be happier. From the time I placed the order to the day it arrived everything went smooth. I will definitely buy again.

Buds Guns is my go-to provider of firearms for me and my family. I have ordered several firearms over the years and have been completely satisfied with Buds service. When I was looking for a Dan Wesson 1911 RZ-45, Buds was the first place I looked. As usual, Buds had the pistol in stock and forwarded it to my FFL in a timely manner. I purchased the gun new and went about the break-in process, cleaning the pistol after every 50 rounds. Immediately, I noticed that the Dan Wesson mags that came with the pistol had resistance when placed into the mag well. The mags would also not release and would get stuck half way out of the mag well. I thought because of the "tight tolerances" that the pistol just needed to be broken-in. I wasn't 100 rounds into the "break-in" period when the first round in the mag would not load when I racked the slide. This occurred more frequently until the first round would then get jammed in the slide.
At my local range I asked one of the employees to take a look at the pistol to see if he could determine the issue. He noticed that the top of both mags were flared, catching on the bottom of the mag well when inserted causing the first round to nose dive. The spring in the plunger it self was not strong enough to maintain the integrity of the top round. At his suggestion, I called Dan Wesson's service department and I explain the problem. I did not call Dan Wesson with an attitude and merely wondered how to resolve the problem. The customer service employee I spoke with was more than rude to me. I was told to put the mag in a vice and "pinch the top of the mag so it does not flare because some mags need to be tuned." I asked the guy, "you mean that I spend $1,300.00 on a pistol and the new mags that come with it need to be tuned?" Well, if I did not want to tune the new mags myself I could send them in and they would take a look at it.
Lesson learned. I should have saved my money and purchased an Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, or a Nighthawk Custom. No more Dan Wessons.

Love this 1911! Dan Wesson is king of the hill for "bang for your buck" pistols, and the fit and finish on this gun is absolutely superb. Better than some other 1911s costing twice the price.

As an "entry level" 1911 from Dan Wesson, the gun is very nicely done. Slide and barrel fitting is rock solid with no discernable play. This is my first 1911 so I do not know how other triggers are setup, but except for a bit of pretravel to get to the set-point, the trigger release is Very nice -- comparable to my 9mm CZ 75 Target Sports. After the first 50 rounds and a cleaning, a young friend of mine using a bench rest and sandbag shot a 5 shot group of less than 1.5 inches using Remington UMC 230 grain FMJ. Clearly, the gun can shoot better than its 71 year old owner can see. I recomment ithe CZ Heritage for anyone who wants a forged steel and machined bar stock 1911 45 acp that is made in the United States. Bud's ordering was great too -- received in less than a week.

It took two weeks for it to come in, which I was told due to ice and snow storm when I ordered it. Normally it only takes four or five days. The gun came in perfect condition. No issues what-so-ever at the range. I've had numerous 1911's,"Sigs,Para's, 3 different model Colts. This one is my favorite, the fit and finish on this gun is beautiful. Thanks Buds!!

This is my 2nd Dan Wesson 1911. I also have a Valor V-bob in black. I must say this heritage is the best bang for your buck out there. this gun has the same components and internals as their Valor series. Only difference is cheap grips (which I put some nice mammoth ivory ones on anyway), no front chekering (which I don't care for much anyway), no rear nite site, and some finishing details. But all in all just as nice as my $1800 v-bob as far as quality goes. I have researched 1911's to the moon and back and you just wont find a nicer "production" one out there. NO MIM PARTS and absolute tight, and accurate. I bought my V-Bob and Heritage for the same price as a custom and really, I can't tell the difference in quality, only price.. Don't hesitate on this one, skip the SA TRP, Colts, and Kimbers and get the Dan Wesson.. Awesome quality, fit, and finish.

I love 1911's and this one is an absolute gem. Easily beats Colt in terms of fit and quality, and a whole different league than SA. The slide is fit so well you'd think you had a custom (one of these cleanings I'm going to try some SlideGlide and see how it performs). Please note, the current models are shipping with the black polimer grips (not wood as pictured), but at last review, the DW websight was selling Cocobolo grips closeout (leftover from conversion perhaps) for just $20. My only other complaint is that it doesn't come with an adjustable rear sight (you need to go to the Valor for that) and DW doesn't offer one as an accessory. I've heard that SA sights fit the Heritage, but have not gone down that road yet. Beautiful solid gun that is the gem of my collection!

I'm in love with this 1911! It is very accurate and it is well balanced which makes it a dream to shoot. I can't wait to buy additional DW 1911's. Get this pistol, you won't be disappointed! Bud's was great. It took one week exactly from when I dropped my payment in the mail until the shipment arrived at my FFL. Thanks Buds Gun Shop!

This is a very nice gun, I own serveral 45cal's this gun is Really nice. It did not look like the pic at all.came with black grips and a whole lot less polished parts. Gun shoots great however, and came very clean. Shipment was delayed one day,for no reason. At the end of the day I like the gun I got over the pic
