Excellent rifle out of the box. Has maintained its zero well and is a great hunting gun. short barrel pulls nicely around angles and can maneuver quickly.

Wonderful out of the box shooter, and on such a versatile platform that can be configured in many different ways. Very impressed.

My favorite platform for a .308/7.62x51 (yeah, Euro-spec ammos worked well with it)... even if you have an AR-10, maybe a tad more than AR-10. This is an excellent, solid & well-performing bolt-action rifle. It was 'Gun of the Year' at one point, if not mistaken. Totally solid rifle, pretty accurate even with its metal sites. Shot maybe over 1600+rds and still looks like new! I wish the 18+"barrel was in-stock then but still very, very happy with this purchase. I had to return to Ruger the original Metal mag when bottom-base got undone/broken but Ruger promptly replaced by a new metal mag (which is way better, my opinion, than the cheaper poly version). That Ruger Lifetime Warranty a plus. Great customer service by Ruger --ended up buying their stock! Bud's solid too like always --keep up with competitive pricing as compared to other sites and buyers like us will keep on coming back for repeat-sales, just saying...

This is a great rifle. I wanted a rifle that had iron sights and short compact profile for easy transport and this is the one. It's very accurate sights are easy enough to adjust. Just an all around good multi use rifle. The ten round polymer mags feel sturdy and feed without any problems. The extra fire power is an added bonus. Plus it comes with scope rings in case you want to go that rout. This rifle is quality enough to pass down to my son when he gets older. I would recommend to anyone but people need to realize that this is Not a sniper rifle. Yes you can shoot 300 yards with a scope but don't expect 5 round groups the size of a quarter.

My experience with Bud's Gun Shop was great, very easy purchase, handled professionally. This gun is my favorite .308 Gunsite Scout Rifle, well it is my only Gunsite Scout Rifle, but my favorite none the less. The gun looks good, cycles perfectly and is more accurate than most humans will every hope to be. Typical Ruger quality and I own several Ruger firearms, all are good quality and a great value. The plastic jugs full of water that we shoot with this gun don't stand a chance. I have bought other firearms from Buds and I will buy more, ya can't go wrong with more guns!

I bought this rifle for a short compact bolt action to take with me to the deer woods. It was in good shape when I received it. I put a muzzle break on in to tame some of the recoil. I also put the XS full length rail, leupold QD ring, and a leupold MK AR 3-9x40 with the illuminated fired or TMR reticle. The bad part was I had to open up and bevel the grove in the bolt where the ejector rides because I was getting a lot of failure to ejects. The ejector arm would fall in the groove when pulling the bolt back after the shot. It was happening about 50% of the time. Now it's perfect. But seriously an $800 rifle that won't eject rounds?? The accuracy is so-so I was getting approx 1 inch groups with most match grade ammo. Regular hunting ammo was about 2 inches or less. Definitely not as good as most off the shelf rifles today. Overall it's ok. I'm not ecstatic with it but not super disappointed. I might end up selling it and buying a Remington 700 in 308.
