An exceptionally well finished and accurate rifle from a US manufacturer.

The little rifle is on a par with my CZ 455 and 457 as far as accuracy with the ammo I was using. Trigger was around 4 lbs from factory but adjusted it down to 2.5 lbs. Had some issues with misfires on my second magazine. After scratching my head as to why i discovered that inserting the rifle into my caldwell shooting bag lifted the bolt slightly. The slight lift was enough to keep the firing pin from striking the rim. Checked to make sure the bolt was completely down after each shot and there were no more misfires.

I have had this gun for about 2 years. It is a real good shooter with 1/2 inch groups with the right ammo and 1 to 1 1/4 inch at 100 yards. I would recommend this gun as a good buy.

Gun was exactly as advertised, came in great condition, although box appeared to me to have been opened and gun worked on by someone. I had to adjust the trigger assembly bolts holding trigger in the stock. Took a few minutes to clean sawdust from the machine screw socket as well as glue a walnut plug in the wood screw hole since it was stripped. Took 30 minutes and everything was tight as it should be. Could have been a miss in factory QC, but it wasn't a big fix. Otherwise, excellent service, quick delivery and I'm a happy customer.

Fit and finish were great. The stock is very comfortable for me. I'm 6' 240 and I could use 1/2 more LOP, but my scope works fine and although I can't move it any further forward it doesn't need to. I had to find the lowest rings possible due to the realllly high rail mount. KSA...This is my only complaint. Please trim some of that rail off.
I polished the bolt before firing and it operated smoothly afterwards. I used 12 varieties of premium ammunition and it shot flawlessly and accurate as far as offhand goes and getting scope on sighted paper. I was just sighting in and the shots went where I expected them. So far, so good. The trigger was smooth and breaks a hair over 2 lbs. and crisply. Excellent rifle for the price. It will used in benchrest...Soon. I expect great things based on my first 12 rounds. I like the mags too! But only ships with one...
I chose this over all other rifles, and money was not a factor, CZ and Tikka were on top of my list until I met this beauty. Next will be the KSA 722 KPT 20" model...And maybe a 16" one as well. At these prices these rifles are possibly the best buy out there. Made in PA, USA.
I'm taking a star off because the rail height and only one magazine. Almost perfect...

I have a friend who bought a KSA 722 VARMINT and told me it is truly a great gun. So I bought one. Mine arrived and there were a few small nicks on the stock. The crown of the barrel was somewhat rough and the blueing had a small streak of steel peeking through. Also, the bolt was shipped in the cocked position so would not go into the breech. Of course I did not know it was in the cocked position but my FFL dealer's gunsmith took care of it next day - for $20 bench fee. I was off to a bad start. I cleaned the barrel and mounted my Nikon 3-9 Prostaff Target. At 50 yards I tried Thunderbolts, Federals and CCI SV's... 2 to 3 inch groups at best - very disappointing. I emailed Steve at KSA and - long story short - he is Mr. Good Guy. He had me ship it back to him with his paid for Fedex label emailed to me. The gun was returned in a couple of days with a new stock and barrel. The stock is truly art work and the barrel is flawless. I remounted the scope and at my 50 yard range, less than 1 inch is the norm using CCI SV's. It is now a beautiful and accurate rifle. Steve made no excuses but I think the original gun was used and mishandled somewhere along the line after Keystone shipped it to a dealer or distributor. That would account for the bolt arriving in the cocked position.

This KSA722V is a great rifle. Very well finished metalwork with smooth operating bolt; as good as any of my CZs. The wood on mine was slightly damaged when received at the store but I took it anyway. One call to KSA tech dept. resolved the issue and a replacement was sent. I am very pleased with the accuracy proving below one MOA at 50 yards so far. I passed over a CZ457 to buy this 722 and glad I did. I'd say that a threaded barrel would add to an already fantastic value.

As others have said, these 722s are sleepers. They will hang with any of the production rifles I have (Kimber Sako, CZ Ruger Zastava Savage Winchester Browning etc) for accuracy and are American made and a fraction of the price of some of the others I have. The fit and finish are excellent, and the double lugs give that extra margin of strength that I like. I shot a 3/8" group at 50 yards for 10 shots with Federal Match ammo. They aren't kidding about the accuracy. These are flying below the radar, and are an excellent choice for a new or experienced shooter. Accurate rifles are FUN!

I have now handled and fired 3 different styles of Keystone 722's so hopefully this will help you of your undecided which to buy. I had the sporter, own the classic and now the Varmint. If I could only keep one it would be this varmint model. It is insanely accurate and easy to shoot. The other models may be as accurate but they are so light it's hard to shoot them accurately. All 3 models are adult sized but the sporter and classic are very light thin rifles. This varmint rifle "feels" like a real rifle and the added weight, beautiful stock and heavier barrel make it so much easier to shoot accurately. My varmint rifle may be the most accurate .22lr I own but need to do some more testing. It's easily right up there with the CZ's I own. The build quality of each 722 I have is excellent, all however suffer from an occasional light primer strike that won't set off the round until a second attempt. In conclusion, if you want a light weight, I mean light weight plinker or hunting rifle to pack around with excellent build quality the sporter and classic are great rifles. If you want the real deal and feel of a heavier rifle with amazing accuracy... get the Varmint it's an awesome gun.

Seems to be well made . The safety is the only thing that I wish were made to FEEL a little more substantial . Works just fine . The wood is really nice on this rifle a little wax brought out the grain . First time at the range it did OK at fifty yards using a 3X9x40 will do better with better glass . The trigger is very good and can only get better with use . First impressions I think this is a good rifle . On line registration was easy .
