Let me qualify my opinion on this by saying I’m an Iraqi War vet and a retired policeman. I’ve been shooting since I was 8. This gun is an acquired taste. It’s absolutely not for everyone. If I we’re going salmon fishing in Kodiak, Alaska I’d take this with me. This beast is a wonderful range toy. It’s heavy for its size and it kicks like an angry kangaroo, but I really enjoy shooting it. Sure it’s expensive. It attacks your wallet trying to feed it ammo like the recoil attacks your wrist. But the finish, mechanisms, and master craftsmanship that smith used makes it all worth it. Take this to the range with your J-Frame .357 mag, your mossberg shockwave, and a couple old army buddies and have a great time.

This thing is a cannon! Little disappointed that the cylinder has bluing on it after only 40 rounds. May be some gapping issues. Overall, lots of fun to shoot!

Love it period, if your looking at this 500 you know what it is and what it can do, don’t hesitate, it is awesome period, bought this at the tail end of the covid scare or whatever you call it and Buds still had this to my dealer 2 days after my check cleared, phenomenal service as usual as well as a phenomenal handgun.
