Howa-Legacy Hogue Lightning Bolt Action Rifle 308 Winchester 22" - 22" Barrel, 5+1 Rounds

Hard to beat a Howa for the money. My boy killed his doe at 438 yards with my handloads. Conditions were perfect and he put in the time preseason so the rifle could do it's part. Thanks LSI for bringing Howa 1500s direct to the US market and Buds for a great rifle at a great price!

Without a doubt, this is an EXCEPTIONAL, ACCURATE firearm. I bought this for my brother, but I am thinking of purchasing one for myself. Out of the box, I was placing shots at .25. I will tighten that up with reloads -- without a doubt, this is the best rifle I have ever purchased!!

Looks awesome. Fit and finish exceeds expectations. Trigger seems very crisp. Looking forward to shooting it.

The price on this seems too good to be true right? I couldn't find much about the Howa 1500 Lightning model online before I purchased. Most of what I found was from the UK. As far as I can tell its a standard 308 chambered Howa 1500 action with a #2 barrel, which is thicker than the lightweight (#1) Barrel but thinner than the bull barrel. The model number isn't listed on the Howa website anymore. I took a chance based on what I heard about the Howa action, and figured at worst I was getting a good Howa 1500 action for a really good price. (Barreled actions are more than $400 by themselves). I picked up the rifle last night from my FFL. The rifle gets a solid 5 stars. I haven't shot it yet, but if it shoots half as good as it feels I think I will be very satisfied. I was able to run a business card down the barrel channel with ease; which suggests the barrel is floated pretty well. The stock fits very well. Length of pull is approximately 13.75 inches, I measured myself and figured I would need a 14.5 length of pull, but this fits really well. The stock has a recoil pad fitted on it that is very comfortable (though dog hair sticks to it very easily). The 2 stage trigger feels great. The first stage is predictable, the second stage breaks crisply and has no creep. It's adjustable, but I haven't taken the action out of the stock to mess with it yet. Frankly it feels great how it is and I don't want to mess with it. I've read a lot of negative reviews about the Hogue stock being "flimsy" online, but this one seems really solid to me. The gun is well balanced. It points well. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. What I am not satisfied with was my purchase experience with Buds. They offer great prices but I have to say I was not impressed by the customer service (or lack thereof). It took 7 days for my order to go from "processed" to "prepared for shipping", and then it took another 4 days to ship. Their phone number took me to a message saying I had called during peak hours and to try again later. It did this every time I called. I couldn't find an email address to email my inquiries, so I finally just replied to one of the emails they sent me (the ones that say do not reply to this email...)
