Best 1911 I have ever had. Very accurate and well made. Extremely tight gun.

I bought my first LB in 10mm auto a few weeks ago. I liked it so much I bought this in 45 ACP. I have other 1911’s that I thought were close enough before crossing over into the custom 1911’s. Wished I’d done it sooner.

The Les Baer 1911s are among the highest quality that you can buy and this model is no exception. The fit and finish is astounding. The slide to frame fit is tight and smooth. The barrel is very tightly fitted to the barrel bushing and slide. For those of you who don’t know, this is tight fit is how you get high accuracy at 50 yards. The racking the slide take considerable effort initially to break it loose, however this does not affect the performance or function of the gun. (This will improve with a few hundred rounds.) I purchased this model specifically for shooting Bullseye competition at 50 yards. The trigger breaks clean at 3 3/4 pounds with the NRA weight scale. I highly recommend Les Baer guns, I think they are very reasonably priced compared to Nighthawk, AccuracyX and Wilson Combat. 5 Stars!!!!

Top quality pistol. Probably will be my favorite 1911. I am a target shooter and the trigger pull (3 1/2#) is heavier than I like but then most new 1911s are the same way. Changing the mainspring and putting a new sear spring in will take care of this. I am not a fan of front slide serrations, but LB does make pistols without them; however, I don't think Bud's offered them. In summary I am pleased with the pistol and would definitely buy again.

Very satisfied with purchase, excellent finish, as accurate as advertised. Extremely tight fit which is what I was looking for. Will purchase another Baer as soon as I'm able.

Received this pistol from buds in about 3 days from when I ordered it. Very pleased with there service and the pistol shoots very accurate. Nice crisp clean break on the trigger, just shy of 4 lbs. Real tight barrel bushing, nice slide to frame fit....can’t wait to purchase another.

My first new Les Baer and my first 1.5" guaranteed group gun. The gun is surprisingly easy to rack the slide. I have an older pre-owned Hillsdale gun that is tighter than this one. As it turns out, tightness does not necessarily mean it's more accurate. After putting 400 almost trouble free rounds (one nose up jam with one of my handloaded rounds with new brass) thru the gun, I couldn't stand it anymore and I had to haul out the Ransom Rest at my club and try my luck at 50yds. I shot approximately 20 settling in rounds and then got down to business. The gun turned in some great groups but it also throws some first shot flyers. Doesnt seem to matter whether I rack the slide or load from slide lock. It does seem to be getting better with round count. If I discounted 1 flyer shooting Federal 230grn FMJ Gold Medal Match, I got a 1" five shot group at 50yds. That's outstanding! The American Eagle 230gr ball that shoots pretty good off the bench at 50 feet opened up to about a 4" group at 50yds. Another note about 1st shot flyers. My other pre-owned Baer did it as well in the Ransom Rest. As one noted 1911 smith noted, the Ransom Rest can be "temperamental" at times. Hopefully this anomaly will work itself out with more rounds down the pipe. The fit and finish on my gun is impeccable. The VZ grips are kinda plain but serviceable. The gun with these grips fits my hands perfectly. I love the big gas pedal thumb safety on the left and kinda wish the right hand thumb safety was the same size. The all black sights are not so great for these almost 60 year old eyes. I think a white dot front or Trijicons front and back would have been a nice touch. These are available from LB. Really wish this gun came with a magwell. I think it dresses up the gun, fits me better in the meat of the hand and is infinitely practical. For what you are paying, it should be standard. It is on the Springfield TRP's. I own one of these and it is a great gun for the money. Trigger is a little heavy for this 20 year veteran of USPSA. I don't shoot competition anymore but a 2.5# trigger would just be icing on the cake here. I shoot 8oz to 22oz triggers on all my custom rifles and believe me it helps shrink groups. One little nit to pick. The 2 OEM mags that come with the gun run fine. I did have to take one apart as I jammed an overlength round in the mag. Glad I did. The followers are very thin and flimsy. They will be replaced if I can find some after market ones or I will retire the mags to the safe and buy some more Wilsons. Comes with a disassembly manual but nothing in writing about break in or what the 1.5" guarantee details are. I am very pleased with the accuracy of the gun and am already planning my next Les Baer purchase.
