Axis rifles save money without sacrificing performance. Savage didn't design a cheaper rifle; they designed a better way to make a Savage, including pillar-bedded barrels with more uniform cooling and greater consistency. These left-handed Axis rifles feature a modern design with silky-smooth bolt operation and a detachable box magazine. Drilled and tapped for scope mounts, these standard models have a black synthetic stock coupled with a 22" matte black carbon steel barrel to allow for multi-purpose shooting in multiple locales.

It's a solid rifle at a reasonable price. My only issue with it is that it won't eject a shell. It doesn't matter if I work the bolt hard or gently, it'll extract it but then it just sits in the chamber. I've taken to working the bolt and flipping the rifle 45 degrees so the spent shell will just fall out. It's a bit annoying. You'd think that Savage could figure out how to get such a basic function right on a rifle.
