Great .308 battle rifle alternative to AR-10 pattern rifles for states like CA. It is heavy, but solidly built and certainly has the nostalgia of the M1 Garand-based action. The compensator is very loud; double ear pro is a good idea.

I never understood all they hype regarding the M14. After receiving this one, I do. The rifle is much lighter than I thought, really not much heavier than current iterations of the AR-15, and lighter than many. It's slender, with excellent ergonomics and feel. The polymer stock, while not traditional, is optimal for serious use and aids in keeping the rifle light - just a hair over 9 pounds! Metal finish is excellent, and all the parts appear well-fitted, though initially everything is quite stiff. The trigger has a two-stage pull with that classic, crisp release, and while it may not be the equal of National Match triggers, it's better than any found on that "other" military pattern rifle. The sights...and these aren't even NM sights, are as good as it gets. The front blade fits inside the rear aperture perfectly, and even with older eyes, the rifle invites you to use the iron sights! Takedown is simple...just pull the rear of the trigger guard down and it unlocks, allowing the fire control group to come free, with the upper receiver unit then removed from the stock. The more I examine this rifle the more I wonder why the military was in such a hurry to replace it! I can also understand why it has been making a steady comeback in every specialty application. I used to think the M1A was too expensive, but these days most are paying more for "doodied-up" AR-15's that are nowhere near as nice as this for out-of-the-box serviceability. I might never have experienced this had Bud's not thoughtfully put it on their 180 day layaway plan that gave me the incentive to finally add one to my collection!

I have a Garand, so am used to the operating system of the M1A basically. What an amazing update to a battle hardened platform. Shoots straight right out of the box. Amazing platform, that is all I can say.

This gun is a price of art, right out of the box I got 1 moa at 100 yards amazing rifle no James with 500 rounds though it!!! Stock fit perfectly, never had any bedding issues described by others either.

Love this gun! There is just something about an M1A. I own several evil black rifles, but this is an impressive weapon system. Takes some getting used to though. For example, rocking the magazine into place and the safety being located within the trigger guard. However, the trigger safety is pretty intuitive when you really think about it. Took it to my local indoor range, the Gun Rack of Aiken, SC, and granted it was only 25 yards, the accuracy was great considering I was firing it from the shoulder using its irons. Really looking forward to taking it to my favorite outdoor range and seeing how it performs at 100 yards. I know these guns are capable of 1000+ yard shots. The rifle has functioned flawlessly and I couldn't be happier with it. Same goes with the service from Bud's. I've purchased several guns from them and this gun was shipped just as soon as my e-check cleared.
