I love my 1911 Remington R1.only thing i don't like is the bad machining on the rear of slide and frame.

I recently purchased this item and am very surprised at the quality features in a gun at this price level. Bud's was a great experience and will buy again from them. One note on this I had no failures to feed or going into battery issues after 300 rounds, but as I always do I use Wilson magaiznes.

Got this as my first 1911. It looks amazing, slide is incredibly smooth out of the box. Carried it for a week and noticed the finish is already wearing off in some places, not a big deal if looks dont matter to you. The magazines it comes with do not have the rubber bumper on the bottom as pictured, just replaced them with WC 8 round mags. If you get VZ grips they require some slight fitting. Overall its worth the price being asked. Recommend if you want to start getting into shooting 1911s or want a beater 1911 to protect your safe queen 1911s.

Out of the box, good quality, very tight. In the first 50 rounds fired, the only issue was a first round fail to feed all the way home on a 7 round clip. all the rest were fine. It only partially fed about 1/8" and cleared easily. Accuracy is good with no sight adjustment yet. I wait 200 to 250 rounds before adjustments and have not reached that level. My rounds, offhand, average 1- 1/2 " to 2" to the right of center mass at 10 yards. I'm very satisfied with this 1911.

Buds had the R1 Carry Commander at my local FFL dealer in less than a week. Very happy with the service and purchase price. Of course, it did arrive with a dead front tritium site like I have seen from other reviewers (you would think they would check this issue by now). Called Remington and they shipped me a new front site no questions asked.....just had to buy a site pusher to do the replace (better than the hassle of shipping the gun back to Remington). Otherwise, it's a great custom grade 1911 for the money. Had to take the edge off the front strap checkering (as the bite was a bit too aggressive) but after that it handles like a dream. Tight fit and it's a tac driver. Surprisingly, the Wilson combat mags I bought have had a few feed hangups but the Remington mags work flawlessly. If you are looking to buy additional mags my recommendation would be the factory mags....they are cheaper and totally reliable.

Like some other buyers of this particular pistol, mine arrived with a dead front tritium sight. This is not a issue with me, since I plan to replace the sights with standard Novak white dots. Overall, the fit and finish of this pistol is top-notch. Smooth trigger that breaks cleanly. The Remington steel mags are of excellent quality, and I have purchased two more 7 rounders. Haven't shot it yet, but I have full confidence in this pistol's ability to perform as advertised.

This is an excellent 1911 for the money as it rivals more expensive comparable firearms. This is Remington's enhanced line modified for concealed carry in the commander size. Remington has done an excellent job with these 1911(s) as the quality is superb for the cost. The features included are often available but for significantly more money. I fired it at the range and it had perfect reliability and excellent accuracy. Highly recommend!!

Over all, I am happy with the Remington R1 Carry Commander. I bought it because it has the features I like in a mid price Pistol, and it's a Remington. After reading reviews on the R1 Carry, I wanted to add a couple Remington 1911s to my collection. I also have the 5 inch model. I like the look of the black oxide finish. Time will tell how it wears. Only issue I have right now, is the safety on the Commander. It is very heavy to manipulate and has worn a spot on the plunger tube. The 5 inch model works great as it should. Right amount of pressure to manipulate with positive click on and off. Comparing the two, I believe its the heavy finish on the left side safety lever on the commander. The safety on the 5 inch is of a flat black non heavy coating. It seem to have better contour shape, and allowing the plunger to protrude just a little more. It's a fixable issue and would not detour from buying. Both guns feel and handle well. Shot through our Police qual course with no issues and good accuracy. I will most likely change to heavier recoil springs, as I carry P AMMO for duty and off duty defensive carry.

I love the feel of this gun, the smooth action, no failures at 150 rounds. What sucks is I ended up with a dead front tritium sight. I sent the gun to Remington's third party shop to have this replaced. The gun made it to the shop on 5/5. I was just informed when I sent an email to find out when my gun is shipping back to me that it still hasn't been worked on. It's now 5/26 and I am p****d! Buds did their part 100%, love 'em. Remington is NOT synonymous with customer service, there IS none. They suck.

Item arrived promptly. Nice looking gun. Packed with think lubricant. Removed slide and barrel, cleaned and lubed before firing. I used 230gr FMJ ammo, 100 rounds. I also used a variety of magazines...the two Remington 7rd...and few 8rds by different makers...and a couple of 10rd mags. I was pleased that the gun fed, fired and ejected all 100 rounds, and it was accurate. The only minor dislike was that probably 50% of the ejected cases landed on top of my head, so the cases are not ejecting properly. This could be the extractor in need of adjustment, or the ejector. Since the rounds do feed and extract I am hesitant to touch the extractor. I may call Remington and ask about the ejector...BUT the first 100 rounds with no failures...very nice,
