This beauty is totally awesome!! It's made right!! Moon clips fit like a glove and the sights were perfect out of it's case!!! Well balanced for an 8 round revolver

My favorite 9mm. Fast shipping response and a great investment. Easy to line up all the proper paperwork. The gun offers accuracy above most others and a joy to shoot with the lower recoil

I liked this gun, it had a nice trigger and balance. A 6'' barrel is my preference in a revolver. Both end caps types for the barrel, ported and non, were near impossible to clean and would build up with carbon fowling in as little as 50 rounds. The titanium cylinder was cool, but discolored from the heat with normal shooting and again near impossible to clean with it's matt bead blast finish. The gun never looked clean. I ended selling it and bought a S&W 19-2 .357. I'll never sell the 19-2. Hope that helps.

Let me start out by mentioning I am a long time ICORE competitor and a past Master. This is not my first rodeo. I own and have competed with scores of Smiths, tuned and repaired my own as well as those of my fellow competitors. This 929 was the worst example of quality control I have seen from S&W. Out of the gate mine would not set off factory ammo with factory springs. It turned out the headspace was way out. Calls to S&W Customer Service revealed poor knowledge of their own products. They could not give me a specification for the headspace, so I was left to my own devices, comparing clearance between cases and the recoil shield of my perfect running 627-4 (38 Super), and verified the 629 was a whopping 0.017" out by comparison. It went back to S&W, and they did what I thought would be required. They machined the back of the ejector/star to close the excess headspace by moving the cylinder back, stretched the crane to eliminate the resulting end shake, and replaced the barrel to restore the cylinder gap, all major work to fix a brand-new gun. With stock springs the gun will now reliably fire Winchester White Box 9mm, but only with 0.040" moons. It is still not reliable with factory supplied 0.035" moons. Ater "fixing" my 929, I believe the headspace is still excessive by about 0.005", but I can live with it using thicker moons. And yes, I know Federal primers are more sensitive, but my philosophy is all my competition revolvers must be reliable with Winchester primers. I will reload with Federals if available for an extra cushion. Headspace is the basic dimension that should be gauged in all metallic cartridge firearms. In a revolver it is just gauged with a flat piece of metal with a GO/NO GO step. How hard can it be to check each revolver before it leaves the factory assembly line? I know they test fire them, but that is not enough. If you buy this gun from a dealer with a gunsmith, ask if they will verify headspace before making the purchase. Also PLAN on investing a substantial amount in moon clips, especially for competitive shooting. I suggest contacting Revolver Supply Company and ask for a variety pack to see what thickness works best in your particular 929 and ammo combination. I gave this 3 stars because S&W fixed it, and because I understand S&W lock work and how to smooth and maintain them, I prefer the feel of Smiths compared to others. But the quality control is not what it used to be. At least the warrantee is still good.

I love it. I put a florescent front sight and some JM grips on it,, and sent the cylinder to TK Customs to chamfer and polish the charging holes. It runs great, and shoots better than I can. USPSA .....here I come.

This is one wonderful firearm! Out of the box this thing shoots like a dream. The action is super smooth, single action is super clean. It showed me what "glass break" trigger really means. The accuracy is FAR better than ANYTHING I could achieve on my own. The recoil is nothing at all and the fact it uses 9mm is excellent for the range. I highly recommend buying a moon clip loader with this as 9mm into moon clips is a nightmare, the only downside. Thankfully there are a few good options for that. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful gun! Don't hesitate, it's a true delight!

Right out of the box it was right on target. Consistent and easy to fire. Smooth with little kickback. Felt like firing a larger .22 keeping you on target. The three other people at the range had to come over and see it and try it. Well worth the money in my opinion.

I am a big fan of S&W Performance Center handguns and this S&W929 is a great addition to my collection. When I first picked it up at the FFL, I was slightly concerned about a small metallic piece of apparent machining debris that fell out from beside the hand/finger the engages the cylinder ratchet, and about the trigger pull not being as smooth as I expected. So, as soon as I got it home, I removed the side plate and gave all the internal parts a good cleaning ( it needed it ). I also replaced the rebound spring with a lighter Wolff spring. I stoned off a few rough spots and reassembled it. Now it's perfect. It has a light smooth trigger action. I like the compensator which functions as intended. I have shot about 200 rounds so far and am happy with the accuracy. I had been wanting, waiting, and watching for quite awhile, then jumped on it when I found the best price here at Bud's Gun Shop.
