Buck Mark Camper pistols are made to take along when you head to the great outdoors. Durable, not too heavy, accurate, and most importantly, just plain fun to shoot. Most distinctively, they have overmolded Ultragrip FX ambidextrous grips, which are both comfortable and ensure a positive grip on the pistol, whether you're shooting in wet conditions or your young learning shooter needs a better grip with their smaller hands.

I am a firearms instructor and I was looking for a .22 pistol that I could use for teaching students. My brother has had a Buck Mark (Note: That's how Browning spells it) for many years and has shot over 14,000 rounds through it and the gun is still going strong. So I decided to try this model. I got the Camper model as I wanted a basic model without frills and accessories.
THE GOOD:
The fit and finish is superb. The gun has a very solid feel. It fits my hand perfectly and has excellent balance. I've only shot a few hundred rounds through it so far. Accuracy is spot on right out of the box. I used this gun with a beginner shooter and the person shot a quarter-sized group in the bullseye at five yards.
THE LESS-THAN-GOOD:
The gun comes with only one magazine. I'll have to buy a few extra mags separately. Also, I had quite a few failures to fire initially. Yes, .22 ammo can be finicky, but this happened more often that it should have. All of the dud rounds fired on the second try. The initial primer hit looked like it might be a little light. Though in my opinion a gun should function perfectly right out of the box, I want to run a few hundred more rounds through the gun to see if this problem goes away. The duds stopped happening after the first 150 or so rounds, Note also that, apart from running a bore snake through the barrel a few times, I did not do a cleaning of the gun before trying it on the range. So I want to give the gun every chance to demonstrate its functionality.
Overall, I like this gun a lot.

Great purchase. I've had this one for over a year, and it never fails to put a smile on my face. The grip fits my hand better than any other pistol that I own. It hasn't malfunctioned once through 700 or so rounds composed of an assortment of 20 year old Remington gold box, new Federal bulk, and even those pesky Winchester hollow points. It's so accurate that it almost feels like cheating. The only thing that I have changed is replacing the factory front sight with a Hi-Viz optic, as there is no contrast between the solid black rear sights and the solid back front sight. Take down is easy (just remove a couple screws).

I already had this camper in the solid black version with the threaded barrel. I have a suppressor on it and it looks like it came off the set of a James Bond movie. This particular gun with suppressor has been used in several movies & tv shows. I didn’t know that when I purchased it. It’s a gun that is perfectly balanced and fits my hand like a custom grip. My wife loves shooting it & took her cc course with it. All the other participants of the class really liked the gun as well. I live in a gated one acre lot development in the country that has an occasional dinosaur rototiller (armadilla) so having a suppressed .22 is a nice yard tool that doesn’t disturb the neighbors when dispatching those armored yard diggers. I bought this latest Camper because Bass Pro ran an ad that had a $100 rebate with it. The only problem is Bass Pro only had two and one of the kids behind the counter said he’d been using one for a hammer to tack up flyers, and both of them sold in the first hour the store opened. So I looked on the internet to see if Browning was the one offering the rebate instead of Bass Pro, & they were for the Thanksgiving Weekend. So I went to Bud’s who for some reason didn’t list the rebate and ordered the gun. I’ve ordered many guns & rifles from Bud’s & and they always been a first class company to deal with on price & service.
