I purchased to use as an EDC in place of my current, excellent, Ruger LCR 357 for increased velocity using SD type, magnum lite (Speer Gold Dot #23917) ammunition and better controllability. The wife has an excellent Ruger SP101 2.25\" and I was debating between the 3\" Ruger and this S&W M60-15. The S&W M60 won out due to adjustable sight and a shorter trigger pull, although the trigger was heavier which I immediately changed with a Wilson Combat trigger spring kit. I like the lighter carry weight of the M60 over the SP101 for EDC but the SP101 being heavier handles higher velocity cartridges better. However, comparing previous SP101 chronograph results using same ammunition lots in similar weather conditions, I find the 3\" M60 to be no faster than the 2.25\" SP101. I find this unusual using magnum cartridges as they are more sensitive to barrel length changes than lower pressure, non magnum cartridges, such as the 38 Special. As an example, it is not unusual for my 1 7/8\" LCR to be 90 - 100 FPS slower than the 3\" M60 barrel using magnum level cartridges, all things else being equal. I have yet to measure the cylinder gaps of the revolvers. Fit and finish of all of my Ruger and S&W revolvers are excellent.

Recently purchased this item for myself as a " pat on the back " xmas " gift. I was seeking another J-Frame revolver that would be somewhat small but larger than the 642 I just purchased. I purchased the 642 for concealment/carry purposes and it fits that bill well. However, on this purchase I was seeking something with a little bit longer barrel with adjustable sights. The purchase through Buds was both quick and easy and arrived at my FFL dealer in 72 hours. Since my purchase I have had time to put 6 boxes of rounds through the chamber and I have to tell you I'm pleased! Very accurate - very basic - weight is perfect - yes with +P's and 357 there is for sure a recoil and bite but manageable once your used to it. I'm an older retired guy and my eyes and upper body strength isn't what it used to be in my younger years and this M60 is perfect for me. The right fit !! Thanx Again Guys !! Creston2

Excellent revolver........classic "tried & true" design; shoots true and fits my hand (which I think is the most important thing in a handgun). Very effective at 15 & 25 yards. High quality stainless steel manufacture and finish which you would expect from S&W (I'm pretty much a "Ruger guy") Could very well be the best .357 ever made in it's configuration. Too bad it's not a six-shot but that's probably because S&W designed it to be compact but still effective at practical distances. I can't see it as an "ankle gun" but then, that's probably not it's intended design anyway Perfect length and balance. It's a "keeper" for sure.....

This S&W Model 60 is an excellent all stainless steel J-frame revolver. Being all stainless steel helps to tame the recoil of .357 magnum and +P loads. Cylinder lockup is very positive and solidly indexes. Fit and finish overall is typical outstanding S&W quality. Grip is comfortable and fits well in the hand. The only drawback to the Model 60 is the front sight, which is serrated and black in color. I would prefer a red insert. But this drawback is personal preference vice a complaint about the quality of the revolver. As usual, purchasing from Bud's is an excellent experience.
