I LOVE this gun. Shooting bird shot 2 3/4 or 3" shells, it doesn't want to jump out of your hands. Home-intruders BEWARE! :)

This is one mean looking shotgun! After reserving my shotgun using Bud's layaway plan, I picked it up from my FFL. Bud's did well with shipping considering the current gun-grab. Fit, finish and function were top-notch. The first thing everyone will notice is the breaching attachment at the muzzle - it is very sharp and easily sticks into door frames as designed (my wife loves the gun but did not care for this feature as practiced around the house). After the initial function checks and preliminary cleaning, I hit the range with 100 rounds of cheap bird shot, high brass game loads and magnum buckshot. All rounds loaded, chambered, fired and extracted without a single issue. This shotgun exhibits an improved-cylinder pattern rather than a true cylinder-bore. This works fine as the gun patterns well enough to consistently hit small game size targets out to 25 yds should the need arise. Several pine trees fell victim to the breaching attachment; easily slicing them into two separate pieces with a single shot. Number 4 Buck scored hits on man-sized targets out to 45 yds each time. The only downside is the receiver finish which does scratch easily, so expect a few marks here and there after some range time. Although not a gun to shoot all day (the webbing of you hand will take a beating with the pistol grip as it absorbs the recoil), the Mossberg 500SP is both short and sweet - highly recommended! BG
