My first polymer, first subcompact. Well, some prefer blondes, some brunettes. I prefer revolver and full sized pistols. After researching subcompacts I chose to spend only a little bit of money, so I got this.
In general I don\'t like the look or feel of polymer and this 709 is right in line. The small size and weight make this a snappy 9mm. Can\'t get my pinky on the grip. The double action is long and can feel resistance when pulling slowly. Single action is nice but not revolver single action. Mentally I can\'t get over so much plastic. But I knew this before buying.
However, this is advertised as a concealed option at a low price. Well, that is what I\'m seeing. As a nerd I read the manual advises to load the mag to break it in. I loaded it one week before the range and it worked fine. (It is still hard loading the last round without my \'lula).
If I was looking for resale value, there are other choices. I have it as a part time concealed and glove box gun. I don\'t see myself firing more than 50 rounds per month with it as I FAR prefer my full sized guns.
For the price and what it does I find little to criticize or praise. $200 and it goes bang. That\'s 3 stars in my book. Charge $350 and im not interested.
