Great Pistol! The sights are nice and the grips are very nice....The Trigger is smooth with a short light pull... shoots great.. I have about 300 rounds through it and not a problem yet.. The finish looks awesome and seems to be very durable...

I went to pick up the gun at my FFL and which is also a gun range, so I decided to take for a test run. I bought a box of ammo and cleaned the gun first and got 19 rounds through it and the extractor BROKE! Soooooo thats not good! I sent it in to Taurus and they had it back to me fixed in a week. I have put about 500 rounds through it and have had no other problems at all. It seems as they had a faulty batch of extractors and that's why it broke...... Not sure but I love the gun now it is deadly accurate! I have to give it 3 stars because of the extractor!

One of the best 1911's I've ever fired. In my opinion, out performs Kimber, Springfield, etc. at half the price. Would recommend this gun to anyone.

First range trip: finish is very nice (not "glowing" like in the picture, but that's Photoshop for you) and it appeared to be tightly constructed. Grips are standard, entry-level plastic panels which is neither good nor bad, just what is expected. Shot number one fired dead center bullseye at 10yds - as did the second, as did the third - the nice Novak sights were zeroed perfectly right out of the box. Not a single failure of any kind in the first 100 rounds. One year and about 15 trips to the range later: I noticed that, after a few months, that the shots started "drifting." They now primarily go about 1-1.5" up and .75-1.0" to the right (at 10yds) and about 4" off at 25yd. I said "primarily" for a reason- there are "flyers"- maybe about one in four - that do something else. Don't get me wrong, the thing is still a decent "duty" gun and can out-shoot most of my friends but if you want this as a starting project-gun for competition then it is call for some concern. Before you say it, no, it is not user-error. I shoot competitively and in a bout of extreme thoroughness I tested it with a Ransom-Rest and came up with the same results. I'm sending in to Taurus to see what they can do with it to bring it back to the .5" groups it used to shoot. Seriously, out of the box it made sub-inch, full-mag ragged holes at 10-15yds consistently and now the groupings have expanded to 2.5" or so.

This is a great alternative to the major 1911 makers. Taurus pt1911 performed outstanding at the range. One or two stovepipes during the break in period (approx. 300 rounds). The finish of these 1911s is the only real negative but refinishing your blued frame and slide is not a huge expense. Great gun! Almost bought another.
