MY NEW FAVORITE!!! I've always wanted a 1911 and I eventually narrowed my choices down to either the Ruger SR1911 or the Remington 1911 R1. I'm glad I decided to go with the Remington (not that the Ruger would have been a bad choice either) because this gun is everything I wanted it to be and then some. The stainless steel finish was a nice change from all of my black guns and goes well with my newly installed (black) hogue rubber grips. So far I have put 200 rounds through it with only 3-4 FTF. Right out of the box I was shooting it just as accurately as I shoot with my 9mm Glock 17 (my first handgun). The shipping/transaction went very smoothly and I've since persuaded a buddy to get one as well (he went with the 1911 R1 Enhanced model, also an extremely nice gun for the $). All in all I would say that if you are looking at this gun to purchase...just buy it, you won't regret it. Thanks Buds...I'll be back.

Decided to buy this pistol on the basis of reviews I read on the Bud's website and research I did online. This is a my first 1911 and I found it to perform well inside of 30 feet, but accuracy diminishes (more than some polymer pistols I have) with target distance. That could be because of my lack of experience with this size and weight of pistol. However, I don't think I would use this as a competition pistol until my comfort level increases. But it's definitely strong for home defense, which is how I will use it. The recoil is manageable with one hand, if necessary. I have had no FTE or FTF issues in about 400 rounds. Clearly, this has the same quality of workmanship that Remington is known for. As usual, Bud's provided speedy, efficient service and competitive pricing. I buy almost exclusively from Bud's for that reason.

I have shot many 1911's cheap one's and one's over $1,200. This is buy far the best one I have ever shot. The trigger is a little heavy only problem. The main reason I bought the gun is because the Remington Arm's Ilion Ny Plant is a United Mine Workers of America union plant and the gun is 100% AMERICAN MADE and it's a REMINGTON for less than $700.00. Thank you bud's and I will be buying more firearms in the near future!

This gun is terrible with any steel casing ammo, which is about all you are going to get in today's ammo market. It jammed over and over. Then, on Tulammo, the slide locked in an "almost" forward position, with a round in the chamber. The slide will NOT open, and it can't be shipped with one in the chamber. This gun is junk. Save your money and buy a Sig 1911 or another brand that isn't so temperamental with ammo. I am massively disappointed with this gun.
