I have 2 other 9MM handguns, one is a Ruger and the other is a Taurus. The Hi Point C9 is a solid firearm. It is a little heavy for its size but the weight adds to its accuracy. There is little recoil compared to the Taurus. However, this Hi Point C9 has a serious feed issue that the manufacturer needs to address! I have tried working with both the Hi Point stock 8 round clip and the Hi Point extended 10 round clip, both have difficulty feeding the first rounds manually. There are dozens of You tube videos explaining how to make the clip function properly. The videos range from bending the spring to bending the arms of the top feed piece. There are more videos explaining the fix is to polish the feed ramp in the gun. I have tried them all and still the top round has to be pushed hard to get it to load without nose diving. A new gun shouldn\'t have this issue. Once the first round is loaded the force of firing feeds rounds well. Before modifications I fired 200 rounds through with only one FTF. Post-modifications there is still significant resistance loading the first round but if done quickly does load. I will be putting another 200 rounds through it this week to see if it gets any better. For an inexpensive plan B gun, it should do the job...but you may want to leave out the top round or two from the clip if you don\'t want a FTF or have to go through lots of modifications.

To be honest, I got this gun for the laughs. I really thought it was a brick with a grip. But I was very wrong. On its first day, it was dead on. Thanks to it\'s weight, recoil is a thing of the past. The grip is comfortable. The slide is smooth and never had a single malfunction. The trigger isn\'t fancy but it gets the job done. I really wanted to hate this pistol but I have a new found respect for hi point. It is a pleasure to shoot and it\'s great for beginners or if you need protection on a budget.

Might be an inexpensive gun but it's a real treat to shoot. Out of the first hundred rounds, 2 ftf. Will polish the feed ramp and should get better results on next outing. Very accurate and well worth the price. Don't let the gun snobs talk you out of buying this HiPoint. Excellent warranty too.

Good gun, overalll with a few exceptions.... grip is too small if you have large hands (remedy- replace stock clip with a clip that has an extension on it, easy fix) and use quality ammo to avoid misfires (this gun will misfire with cheap ammo on occasion), once I did changed ammo no more problems. For the money, it\'s a decent gun, just need to make some slight modifications and you\'re set for the range or home protection. Oh another note if you\'re considering for use as a CCW be advised this is heavier than most 9mm... but it\'s all you can afford at the moment it beats having nothing at all.
