This is a kick butt gun. If you a like small, light weight, all metal weapon that packs a lot of fire power with not that much recoil, this is a great choice. Because it's a revolver, it didn't require any break in. Have run about 300 rounds through it and it shoots where you aim it. It's quite accurate to 30 feet out. The gun fits well in a pocket holster, but could be used in any holster for that matter. Carried as a back up in a ankle holster to a smaller 380 in a pocket is ideal. This guns works well for home protection or conceal carry. Loading this gun with person protection ammo (speers gold dot 135gr) really gives this weapon respect. Obviously with it's short barrel and light weight there is more recoil, but not overwellming-very easy to come back on target. It's a great gun for a reasonable price. As usual, Buds gives great service and good prices.

This has been my first experience with Buds, and I must say that I am very satisfied with the whole process of buying a firearm online with them. The process was very straightforward, and they did a great job of notifying by email throughout the whole process. Placed the order Monday afternoon, and it arrived at my FFL by noon on Thursday. The 442 arrived, and it looks great! I am excited to put some rounds through over the weekend to test it out, but being the owner of 2 other S&W revolvers (638 and 686), I know that I will be pleased with my purchase. This is going to take its place as a front pocket, summer carry gun.

Bought this gem for my wife as a "bedroom/car" gun, as well as occasional carry. This is the ideal lightweight, no bells-&-whistles defense revolver - just what she wanted, with shrouded hammer and no safeties/mag release/other buttons to fuss with in a crisis. We've put 100+ rounds through it so far out to 25 yds, and she loves it. So do I. It does exactly what it's designed for, and it does it well. Yes, the trigger takes some getting used to, but if you're going for the 442 in the dark or with an imminent threat, you surely don't want a hair trigger.

Bud's service was great as always and I had no problem picking this snubby up from my FFL. The first shots fired were .38 reloads (not +P) at 50yds (yes, 50) as I could not get to my pistol range due to the snow and weather. Shooting off-hand at a steel plate approx 14x16in, I was in fact able to connect. Don't have any doubts on the accuracy of these little guys. My only gripe would be that the stock trigger is quite a bear, especially on initial take up. Replacing the factory springs with some Wilson Combat trigger kit springs did wonders, even with very slight polishing on the rebound slide. The other interesting thing was the amount of torque on the screws of the side plate. Even with the proper gunsmithing screwdrivers I ended up messing up 2 of the 3 heads. I called S&W to explain what had happened and asked why the were so torqued. The rep insisted that there was no reason to ever open the side plate other than to modify the internals (which is what I had told him I had done to begin with). When I asked about purchasing some new screws, he said it would be no problem to send me out some new ones free of charge. There's also a plethora of holsters and styles to choose from so do your homework and find what works best for you.
