I was a little hesitant to buy a low end 1911 at first, but as it turned out this Rock Island Armory 1911 in 9mm is not low end when it comes to workmanship! It not only looks good, but shoots great! Saturday I ran 300 rounds through it and no problems even running some cheap ammo and it even eat Russian steel like it was candy! It has a very smooth trigger and even with the old GI sights it was dead on at 100 yards. So yes it is very accurate too! The only issue I had was with the 10 round mag that comes with it, the next to the last round sometimes would not eject, but with Mec-Gar Government 1911 Magazine 9mm Luger 9 Rounds mags it worked flawlessly! I would suggest anyone that wants a great range gun to buy is Rock Island Armory beauty!

A great pistol ,well built ,it runs great right out of the box! I have a few hundred rounds through it of several manufacturers ammo with no problems. I highly recommend RIA .

Very interesting gun. Nice finish, decent trigger pull. Extremely accurate, feeds well with factory and Tripp magazines. The GI sights were fine, replaced with white dot. Grips okay, switched in $18 Magpul which work well. Out of the box fed 115 grain FMJ okay but nothing else. I flattened and widened the barrel feedramp quite a bit, cycles everything fine now. Has surpassed the BHP as my favorite 9mm to shoot, a definite recommend.

I finally got to shoot my new Rock Island Armory M1911 A1 9mm today. I shot 50 rounds Federal American Eagle 115 grain FMJ and 50 rounds Blazer Brass 115 grain FMJ. I had no failures with the American Eagle ammo and 3 feed hangups with the Blazer Brass. I did notice as I loaded the magazines that the Blazer Brass seemed "thicker" than the American Eagle, which may be the reason for the failures, or it could be the magazine. When the gun arrived it was coated with oil, which is no big deal since I took it apart and cleaned it as soon as I got it anyway. As soon as I started shooting, the word that came to my mind was "smooth". After about 20 rounds the gun was consistently in the center from 30 feet and maybe 1-2 inches left. The manual states that it will take 500 rounds before the gun is fully broken in. I have no plans to make any changes to the gun, I like it just like it is. For the price for this gun from Buds, with the limited lifetime warranty from Rock Island Armory, I believe this gun is a super buy. I'm happy with my RIA M1911 A1 9mm, and happy with Buds. Happy, happy, happy!

Wow! This gun runs like a sewing machine. I wiped all the oil off the outside of the gun and took it to the range. I did all my shooting from a standing position. I shot 3-4 inch groups just as fast as I could from 21 ft and 45 ft. I was in a hurry because the range was closing. I am very confident it will shoot better groups if I had taken my time and shot from a rest, but that isnt what I would be doing in a self-defense situation. The muzzle jump is almost non existent compared to my plastic double stack 9's. I am very happy with this 1911 frame 9mm. I completely recommend this gun. I also purchased two extra mags with the gun. All three mags functioned flawlessly with 124 gr PPU bullets. Thinking about picking another one up (gun). Thanks

I have owned my Rock for 4 1/2 years, with about 3,000 rounds through it. About half were hand loads. After the initial break in it has run flawlessly. (Pay attention to the 500 round break in, it's important.) I discovered if I slam the mag in with the heal of my hand, it causes it to FTF. When I snap it in briskly as opposed to slamming it in, it works great. I had a couple of minor issues early on and their support is excellent. I purchased my first handgun in 1967 and have bought and sold quite a few since. I must say this one is my favorite. Not only would I recommend it to a friend to buy one, I might recommend it to myself to buy another one. lol
