The weapon came with Sig's red dot sight and the gas block out of alignment with the rail by about 1mm. I had hoped for the flip up sights and no red dot since I will add a Lucid HD7 later on and would enjoy plinking with Sig's iron sites. At any-rate, when I called Sig, Sig quoted me $169.00 for the flip up sights that their "new" guns come with nowadays like they were doing me a favor. Additionally, the weapon I received which was built on 5/21/2011 appears to have the old, heavier carrier. I'm sending the weapon back to have the barrel and gas block aligned with the upper receiver. I wish my experience had been better as thus far both the product as well as the customer support have missed my expectations.

I received my Sig 516 on 9/21/11 and the rifle came with flip up iron sights. No cheap red dot ... thank God. Took the 516 to the range yesterday and received many compliments on the fine quality, looks and workmanship of the rifle. It worked flawlessly. The only negative is that the Patrol came with a single stage trigger. I thought the 516 came with a two stage trigger...not so. I'm going to call Sig about the trigger switch. So therefore 4 out of 5 stars.

Picked up my 516 from the FFL on Sunday. Have not taken it to the range yet. Just to let everyone who is complaining about the red dot scope know, mine came with flip up iron sights instead of the Sig red dot. They look and feel similar to the Troy flip up battle sights but the windage dials (for the rear site) are different. I know of two other people who also picked up a 516 (not from Buds) and their rifles also came with iron sights.

All in all I like my Sig 516 but here are my gripes anyway. I would have liked it better if it had the following: a sturdier plastic case, flip up sights instead of the red dot sight it comes with, the mount also scratched up the rail a bit, it needs a point on the stock to attach the supplied sling and most of all an ambi selector switch. The 516 set up for right & left handed shooters, it has ambi mag release, and ambi points to attach the supplied sling (again not on the stock) but no ambi selector switch? I don't understand that at all. Not a gripe but FYI, the Magpul furniture it's supplied with is different than what's pictured but I was expecting that. Now that's out of the way, it shoots great. We (me and three others) took it out last weekend and had a ball with it. Two of the shooters had never shot an AR (one had never shot a long gun) and both shot it well and fun doing it. To be fair the red dot ah a lot to do with their enjoyment. The one that never shot a long gun before was ready to buy her own by the time we were finished. This is my first AR and besides the gripes listed above it's a good rifle. I shot an off hand 1.5 inch 5 round group at 50 yrds with the first mag (Federal 55 gr.) once I got the red dot adjusted. Bud's gets a 5 of 5 as usual (my 3rd purchase) the rifle gets 4 of 5. Thank you for your time, I hope this helps.

I love the rifle. I put a Millett DMS-1 on the gun and shot 1 moa groups while sighting in the gun. I expect to shot better groups when I have a chance to experment with loads and bullet weights. I shot 60 rounds the first day out with no jams or problems.

First I'll start off my saying that I was a skeptic about buying a gun online. To my suprise, things worked out GREAT. Took the full four days for my payment to go through, which was the only "bad" thing. I called in and they said things were looking good and so I just waited it out. Took the rifle four days to arive at my FFL. I used one of buds, and he was a really cool fella and we ended up chatting for a couple hours. When I inspected the gun, I didnt just "look at it". Being a skeptic, I tore the rifle apart. Anything that could come off and be inspected was... Conclusion: The gun was perfect. It came with a sling, one clip (takes most all AR clips so its fine by me), the red dot, instructions and the box the red dot came in. For what I payed, im VERY happy. Took'er to the range today (got it 5 days ago) and she worked great. I tried three of the four piston positions (1,3,4) and it worked very well. As for the red dot, it only took 10 rounds to get it zerod at 50 meters than I jumped to 100 meters. The red dot worked great. I WILL HOWEVER take it off the 516 and put it on my SIG mosquito (as my seattle range only has a 25 meter pistol range). Im going to stick a solid scope on the gun and reach out to 300 meters with my 80grain hand loads and see what she can do. All in all: Gun condition on delivery: 5 Will I shop here again? F*** yeah. The site is legit.
