This rifle is very accurate and well made. I own three versions, this one, the Super, has an oversize stock. Be aware that it is not the one you would really want to carry hunting or otherwise at 11 lbs. it would start to wear on you! It shoots all types of ammo pretty accurately and 1.5" groups are pretty common, depending on the ammo sub M.O.A groups are possible. The fit and finish on these rifles are very good. I personally like the walnut/SS version. Be aware that some after market mags don't work well and Springfield mags are expensive. One note, if you get one that has accuracy problems, your stuck because even though they have a lifetime warranty to the original owner, Springfield will not correct it.

This is my 3rd M1A. Outside my Weatherbys Mark V, these are some of the most accurate guns on earth, let me explain. Took it to the range, I have a Leupold Mark4 8.5/25/50 illuminated mill dot LRT. At 100 yards bullets are kissing, 300 yards 2-3 inch 5 group, at 565 yards 8 inch group. I had my spoter take me all the way to 1008 yards. it took 9 bullets with scope adjustments. 10th bullet at one oclock inside the largest circle and the 11th bullet was at 5 oclock inside the largest circle. Then the range closed down. Target was 22 by 22 inches. this was done with a super hot barrel. wind conditions were 8-10 miles from left to right. Ammo was Federal Gold Match sierra 175 grain BTHP. This was the first time I have tried to shoot over 1000 yards. Next month I am buying a M21 with a Krieger Barrel. The M1A are the most fun gun to shoot !!!

The Super took 25 rounds to break-in and the last three rounds I had a nickel group at 100 meters. I bought a second one as a backup that I will break-in shortly. The weight allows for a steady off the hand shot, the sights adjust just as advertised. The perfect rifle, and reasonable to shoot two matches a day.
