Ruger GP-100 3", SS; "Perfection"! Just what I wanted for concealed carry whether out running errands around town, fishing trips and on the hiking trails. .357 Magnum power in a snubby barrel, 6 shots, fixed sights (which I wanted instead of the S&W 686 snubs adjustable sights), rugged design built for durability and the ability to chose different sized grips. These grips are oversized, but extremly comfortable and tucked in an IWB holster, are not that much more difficult to conceal than boot grips. Yes, it IS heavier than a 5 shot S&W .38 Airweight, but if you want Magnum power, performance, dependability / durability over the long term with HOT loads, than the extra weight is COMFORTING as opposed to burdensome. 3" barrel points and shoots more like a 4", at least it feels that way. Stainless steel means less concern pertaining to rust in humid or salty regions. Trigger is crisp, clean and smooth. Be advised, I'm a S&W guy, especially the older "pre-lock" models... absolutely love them. Another reason this Ruger GP-100 (the old Speed Six on Steroids), is PERFECT for the Revolver aficionado... no unsightly lock! Quality throughout, made in NH, USA.

Very strong revolver. I like the 3" barrel. The trigger was typical Ruger but a set of hammer and trigger shims with some wolf springs improved the trigger pull greatly. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Always get lucky buying from Buds. My FFL had the gun two before I picked it up and when I asked if it was OK he smiled and said yep. The finish is great on this gun no marks of any kind from machining. Front sight center and barrel straight. I believe his smile was the 9 1/2# DA trigger pull and 4# SA pull both very smooth, he is also the town gunsmith and chief of police. Your trigger pull may be different but it can be great. Took a little off the top of front sight ait shoots the 200gr. Double Tap just right now at 15 yards which is perfect for bear protection here in Alaska. Did order a set of the Hogue grips for the 454 Alaskan with the gell insert for a little more comfort. This to me at 70 is the perfect woods packing revolver and would be hard to beat if I was 21 again.

If you want an all business, or brush sidearm, this will do. Fit and finish are ok but that's not what makes this revolver great. It's a handloaders dream for custom, heavy loads. You probably couldn't blow it up if you tried. The amount of steel and robustness is rediculous and you won't be disappointed. I love my Smith 629, but this revolver is a close second!
