First...Buds was GREAT! Shipping was fast and the folks were easy to deal with. On the MK III...I love Ruger and I trust in their quality. This piece is a 'Tack Driver"! My only issue is that I'm old fashioned and I like all steel fireams with nice wood. It is very difficult to get over the polymer grip for me. It makes the arm feel top heavy and "cheap" somehow. I know, I know...that's all psychological! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

This was my first gun purchase and I was looking for something that I could take to the range and not spend too much on ammo. The first time I took it to the range, I ran 300 round through it and it performed flawlessly. The second time at the range I had feeding issues and the safety officer at the range said that one of the two magazines I received with the gun was bad. He also oiled the gun, but I the same brand/box of ammo that worked flawlessly the week before kept sticking. I took the gun home and tried to break it down to clean it, but it jammed. I took it to the range and asked for their assistance, but they couldn't figure it out and sent it to the gunsmith. I was told that I should get it back in a few weeks. I was feeding a Mossberg Tactical 22LR Adjustable Stock 25rd Magazine #37204 the same ammo without any problems. Once I get the gun back from the gunsmith, I may sell it as I have learned a large number of people believe that this gun is the hardest gun to break down and clean. Since I am a novice, I should probably start with something that is easier to break down and clean.

I just purchased this gun about two months ago. My hats off to Buds for their typical outstanding service. I have put over 1000 rounds through this gun since I bought it. The gun shoots great, I can get 1.5" groups at 10 yards over and over. What I am not happy about is disassembly and re-assembly of this gun. You have to strike this gun repeatedly with a mallet to take it apart and to put it back together again. To me, this is like buying a new car and finding out that you have to take a crow bar and pry the hood open to check the oil. It just doesn't seem like something that you should have to do to a brand new firearm. Today, after taking the gun to the range, I brought it home, stripped it down and cleaned it, then struggled for over an hour to get it put back together again. I just couldn't get the pin to line up properly. This happens after I have successfully stripped and reassembled the gun a dozen times or so. Finally I turned the gun upside down on a block of wood and try to pound the pin in with a hammer and guess what? The rear sight breaks on me. Is it my fault? I guess so. I guess I am going to have to take the gun to a gunsmith now to get the sight fixed, and maybe he can do something to make the gun easier to strip and reassemble. I know this is a very popular gun and in some ways I can see why. I just don't understand how this design has withstood the test of time after so many people have voiced these same comments about the gun.

If you like to take your weapons apart and clean them, steer clear. Great gun. No misfires, hits what I'm aiming at with excellent groupings, but just spent 2 hours just field stripping it and putting it back together. Don't breath in at the wrong moment or the hammer strut will get misaligned and you'll think you've broken it. You should not need tools to field strip your gun. With this thing (at least mine) you absolutely need tools. I don't like hitting my guns with hammers. Hopefully it will improve with age, but so far, it is my nemesis. Less than 1 star for disassembly and reassembly. 5 stars for performance. 5 stars for Bud's. Quick shipping and great price.
