update... I have shot over 2000 rounds through mine now with only one stovepipe and that was due to my friend limp wristing it. gun is very reliable. i have become used to the trigger pull and now i shoot 2 inch groups at 25 yards with this pistol. by far my favorite handgun right now.

My girlfriend has the 9mm version and i went to the range with her and i was sold, but of course i had to get the 40 s&w. At first i couldn't even hit the paper at 10 yards but once I got used to the trigger i was set now i'm putting them all in the first two rings at 15 yards. a great gun at a great price and you cant beat the disassemble/reassemble makes it easy to clean. thanks to buds i got the best price and i'll definitely make the drive down from cincinnati when my wish list items come in.

An update... after almost 1000 rounds, had 4 FTFs. In regards to the review stating that trigger pull is fine and they don't see what the problem is... they either got an oddball w/ a good trigger, they're very strong or S&W fixed the trigger. The pull had been estimated out of the box to be between 8 to 12 lbs. Again, though, a simple spring change does wonders.

Just got this gun in and took it to the range. I am having a hard time understanding what people are stating about the trigger, Either I have stong fingers or eveyone else has weak fingers.
I give this Gun (A+++)
1. Green color looks great
2. 40 S&W nice caliber
3. Magazine (2) 14 rounds each
4. Nice carry case
5. It's a SMITH & WESSON !!!
5. Price I bought it for $316.00, It is now $338.00 still worth it every penny

I bought this pistol even after reading all the reviews about the downright nasty trigger pull. So I knew what I was getting myself into. The gun shoots great, but I can see absolutely no reason to have a trigger that heavy. Some have cited safety as the reason for the design, but the pull is truely ridiculous, even at that. I managed to find a lighter striker spring from a very well known catalog and on-line gun parts retailer for about $7. It is a piece of cake to swap out. The trigger still seems a bit on the heavy side, but is more than acceptable. Before the spring replacement, my forearm would be sore from the workout the trigger gave me after a few clips of ammo. Factoring in price, this is truely a 5 star gun if it weren't for the trigger. Unfortunately, S & W has a potential winner on its hands, but without that slight trigger refinement, it will probably relagated to only having a cult following of die hard fans who choose to turn a blind eye to it (and those who choose to sink just a few more bucks in for a spring ).
If you can take apart and put back together a pistol, or are mechanically inclined in the slightest bit, I would recommend this pistol. Just buy the replacement spring, too. It takes more time to check your mail, open up the envelope to take out the spring and get you pistol out of the safe than it does to change the spring. I am now considering the 9mm, as well. Or at least I was. It appears as though our last election has caused prices to jump $40 in just the few weeks I've had it. Still a bargain compared to a Glock (not that I don't want one of those, too).
