Clever little gun. Easy to handle and fun to shoot. Had a few issues early on. The fold out bi-pod was a bit awkward to deploy and store back away. Just a matter of breaking it in. After several trips to the range I have no more problems. I thought the legs of the bi-pod were flimsy but they surprised me, holding up well. Also messed up the retainer spring on the pin that locks the stock open. Kel-Tec sent me a spare. I did buy a 30rd. magazine, no problem running it through without flaw. Also mounted an inexpensive red dot sight, makes a good combination.

It is very accurate, and the fact that it can use AR15 Magazines make it a real winner.

When I bought this, the price was around $550 and was a good price for an introductory rifle. The quality left a little to be desired, but cosmetic, for example, the barrel wasn't centered in the plastic and all the molded pieces had visible flashing. IT accepts the AR magazines so it was easy to find a preban 30R mag. I eventually sold it back to the dealer and got a very good price for it.

This is a great .223 ranch rifle to walk a property with for varmint or light target shooting. The polymer is pretty standard and provides a light weight feel.

Kel-Tech is a true innovator. Fabulous, accurate Rifle. Great outdoors, home defense and as a trunk gun. And...so accurate just w/her Iron Sights!

Ordering my Kel-Tec SU16A from Bud's Gun shop was a great decision. Easy order and payment delivery as expected gun arrived in great new condition. The manual and instructions from Kel-Tec were clear and explained the folding and deploying and stowing of the bi-pod were clear as well. Ran a patch with oil down the bore and headed to the range with both 10 round mags loaded with .556 jacketed rounds and rifle fired as expected right off the bat for two rounds then "click" FTF. I pushed the "plastic mag up from the bottom, cycled the bolt, fired two more rounds..."click" again. Had to cycle after two to three rounds on both mags of .556. The .223 performed a little better but mags kept failing to stay seated in the mag well and I had to keep slapping the mags from the bottom to get rounds to feed. Pretty disappointing, but the rifle is neww, only put about 40 rounds through and my buddy sent me 3 30 round pmags and a metal 10 round mag and I will see how that runs. I really like the design of the rifle, bi-pod, mag release ability to fold, etc. My only other negative is the front sight being hard to see ..rear ghost ring is fine. As others have suggested I think a little dot of paint on front sight should help but I plan to put a small Bushnell or Sig optic on anyway. I would at this point say I am very pleased with my purchase. I wish the mags provided were better quality but that to me is a small matter. .

works great.the stock mags were a bit snug, but after a little massaging work great.it functioned better with the poly kel tec mags than the metal mags from pro mag which were a little loose and failed to feed a few times.

Bought this as a curiosity. A foldable .223. Used it as a truck BOB gun for a few months. Not bad at all. No issues with any kind of ammo. It did have an issue seating some AR steel surplus mags. I traded it towards an AR when the AR prices came down.

This is a light firearm. While not an AR it is rated .223/.556 so I expect it is robust despite all the "plastic". Recoil acceptable, having the mags in the stock doesn't become annoying and is good for having plenty of rounds, especially if you start with a 30 rounder. Sights are not good but with some fiddling make this perfectly fine. I zeroed to 100 yards with minor effort and it shoots (I shoot with it) a nice grouping and the gun goes bang every single time.

lots of fun to shoot, not the best, but definitely not the worse. plan on buying another.

I had been looking at purchasing one of these for awhile now and was looking for a light weight carbine that uses common and relatively cheap ammo and mags. I put it through its paces for about 300 rds. with no malfunctions. It is basically a polymer rifle but the fit and finish were very good. I was especially pleased to see that they dropped the goofy looking orange front sight and now use the AR type front sight from the B model. Accuracy was about what I expected at 100 yds.at around 3 1/2 " with surplus ammo. The design is cool as you can fold it in half for easier storage or transportation. and the handguards pull open to act as a bipod at the bench. The 5.56 is not a bad recoiling round by any means but compared to a AR-15 it will be more apparent.in this rifle. So overall in my experience with the rifle I recommend it especially if you are looking for some of the features it possesses. Buds as usual provided another perfect transaction.

The kal tec Su 16a is a fine rifle. I Have taken it to the range twice and had no major problems. The price is nice also the barrel length make the rife super accurate. I chose the Model a because I already have a ak47 with a 16inc barrel and wanted more accuracy while still being able to have a 30round mag. Have been surprised by both the quality of gun as well as accuracy. I would recommend this rife to any one who wants a super accurate cheap 5.56/223 but hates ARs or cant afford them.

I would like to thank Buds for great shipping however I would never buy another product fron kel tec. they throw the weapons together which work ok but they have the worst customer service out of any company I know of so pray they send you a working rifle. Also for about $100 more you can get a dpms oracle ar 15 which I own and is a proven combat rifle that will last with top notch customer service. So dont waste your hard earned money on a junk tec.

I recently purchased a su-16 kel-tec because of several reviews saying they were descent guns and thats just it they are very simple guns. If your looking for a gun similar to an ar-15 this is not even close, it has crude cheaply built sights and the bi-pod is useless. The recoil and sound are considerably worse than an AR type rifle. The good thing about this rifle is its extremely light weight and chews through even the cheapest .223 ammo you can find so its great for plinking. If your considering buying this gun save your money and buy a nice AR or even an AK for that matter. If I could put a realistic price on this gun knowing what I know now I wouldn't spend over $300 on it. The best advice I can give to those out there considering buying this gun is you get what you pay for.
